    Illegals Arrested in Hamburg, NY

ICE arrests 41 illegal aliens working at America's Fair in Hamburg, NY
Aliens were working as cleaners at the Erie County Fair facility

HAMBURG, NY -- Special Agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement have arrested 41 illegal aliens that were found working at America's Fair in Hamburg, NY. The investigation started after agents received a credible tip from a member of the public late Wednesday evening. This morning the agents determined that the aliens were working for a cleaning company that is a sub contractor at the fair grounds and made the arrests.

All of the individuals are currently being processed and will be served with notices to appear in immigration court to answer charges that they are in the country and working illegally. The 41 individuals include 18 women and are from four different countries, Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, and Honduras. Currently all of the aliens are being detained.

Thomas A. DiSimone, acting special agent in charge of the ICE Office of Investigations in Buffalo said, "One of the cornerstones of Homeland Security's interior enforcement strategy is to aggressively deter illegal employment in this country. ICE does that by arresting illegal workers and by pursuing criminal charges against those who knowingly hire unauthorized workers. In this case we reacted rapidly to a excellent tip from a concerned member of the public."

ICE agents will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding how the individuals got into the country, where they procured their fraudulent documents and whether company officials were aware that the individuals were not authorized to work.

    -- ICE --

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was established in March 2003 as the largest investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security. ICE is comprised of four integrated divisions that form a 21st century law enforcement agency with broad responsibilities for a number of key homeland security priorities.

IT SEEMS THAT SOMETIMES, WHEN ICE DOES WORKSITE ENFORCEMENT, THE ILLEGALS ARE DETAINED AND SUBSEQUENTLY DEPORTED, AND OTHER TIMES, THE MAJORITY (UNLESS THEY'RE WANTED FUGITIVES OR FELONS) ARE RELEASED AND TOLD TO APPEAR AT AN IMMIGRATION COURT. AM I CORRECT IN ASSUMING THAT IN THIS ARTICLE, THEY'RE BEING RELEASED AND TOLD TO REPORT TO AN IMMIGRATION COURT? IT SAYS AT THE END THAT THEY'RE CURRENTLY DETAINED, BUT I'M ASSUMING IT'S JUST FOR A DAY OR TWO.

IF YOU HAVE INSIGHT INTO THIS, PLEASE RESPOND!

    THANKS,

    OSTRICH

Yep, they were released if they were served notices.

Thanks, Reciprocity. I wonder if it is determined beforehand that the jail space in that local community isn't sufficient, so they tell the bulk or all of the illegals to show up to the hearing? It's good that they did the enforcement, but frustrating as all get out that the illegals weren't put into removal proceedings. Kind of mind-boggling, huh?

I wish on the ice.gov page you could actually contact a live human being, or send emails in (I'm not referring to the 800 hotline) to get more info on their policies.

I know what I wanted to say. If those who are told to report to an immigration court don't show up (probably 85% of them won't) then they become fugitives, and the Buffalo, NY ICE Fugitive Team will eventually look for them. But, it's like doing double work. If you'd just procure the jail space in the first place, you wouldn't have to spend the time, money, and manpower going after them 6 months or 2 or 3 years after the fact. I guess that's why we need to end Catch and Release NOW! (on the border and in the interior of the country!)

If ICE is so dedicated to finding large groups of illegals working here illegally, all they need to do is raid the Del Mar Racetrack, here in North San Diego County. I know there are lots of other illegal alien groups to target, military bases, etc., but if they want to send a loud and clear message, they should pounce on the hundreds of illegals working as horse handlers, stable hands, grooms, etc.

But I doubt ICE are really that serious, alot of the recent arrests were mostly for show, and they are too scared to upset the feeding trough and recreation spot of the rich and powerful, many who are donators to the Repub. party.

So you will never see ICE go after anyone other than janitors or toilet scubbers who are easily replaced by other unskilled workers, raiding Del Mar would esentially close the racing season, and the powerfully rich and elite would be pissed, so it will never happen.

And these illegals will NOT show up for court hearings. In all reality they will assume another identity and be lost in the brown sea. That was not a racist comment considering they call their pride "brown pride"
