Greek authorities on several islands in the Aegean Sea are raising the alarm over an increasing influx of refugees from Turkey, which has soared since the failed coup, while the EU fears Turkey will not keep to its promises regarding the refugee deal.
The number of migrants risking the hazardous journey to the islands by water only increased since the 15 June failed coup. Lesbos and other islands that have seen large influxes of refugees, are housing 9,240 migrants as of Saturday, according to Greek government figures cited by the Guardian.
According to the governor of North Aegean, Christiana Kalogirou, there is a “constant and apparently increasing flow” to the islands. Some working with migrants compare the situation now to what it had been before a deal with Turkey had been struck.
EU President Jean-Claude Juncker voiced alarm on Friday saying “the risk is big” to the deal and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has already “hinted several times that he wants to scrap it.”

In an interview to Austria’s Kurier he added that, in the event of Erdogan not sticking to his promises, “we can expect migrants to start coming to Europe again.”
According to Juncker, “the success so far of the pact is fragile.”
Athens says it has evidence of Turkey falling back on its promises, as Turkish migration monitors are leaving Greece and there is no belief that they will return or will be replaced.
Meanwhile, clashes broke out at the Greek-Turkish border on July 23, as pro-migrant protesters rallied against the Turkish border fence. Police reacted by using tear gas and stun grenades. According to Greek media, over 200 members of the group known as 'No Border Camp' held a rally in Kastanies against the closed-door policy.
There are views from some corners that Turkey is looking to make life difficult for the Greeks in retaliation for the eight Turkish officers who participated in the coup and fled across the border to Greece. Athens has so far refused to hand them back.

Greek anarchists recently attacked the residence of the Turkish ambassador in Athens Kerim Uras. Uras, for his part, blamed Greece for housing the defectors, saying they were “people who were trying to demolish democracy in Turkey.
They were killing citizens and shelling institutions with laser-guided bombs. They weren’t upholding human rights.”
Uras believes they should never have been given shelter in Greece. “They should have been sent back very fast. Now they are clearly exploiting the asylum procedure.”
Meanwhile, in Turkey, Erdogan is busy reforming his military, shutting academies and making significant cuts to ranks. He is also proposing to give himself more powers, such as being in charge of intelligence and general staff.

Crazy! Merkel's gotta go! She is making deals with the enemy, with anti-Christ followers. What is the expected outcome for Christian nations? muslims rape & butcher Christians! Is she nuts or did she & her backers make some kind of deal with islamists.
She has destroyed Europe with this extreme take in of the last few years. It is bothersome to those that are blood lines of Europe and for those that like to travel & enjoy the richness of their civilization.
And bothersome to Americans because a European passport enables one to travel here quite easily.
Erdogan is an enabler of isis and not to be trusted. Do not take them into EU territory, send them back immediately. Why was that not done from the beginning? The pic is mostly men again. It is an overtaking, an invasion by mentally unsound inbreeds - WAKE UP!
They do have their own country if they are brave enough to make it more livable. They fit in better on their own soil rather than invade western countries with their demands - oh, no dogs, oh, rape your child, oh butcher a priest, oh defecate on your lawn or while waiting for the bus in public, etc, etc.

Tow them back...put barges in the water...process them and send them ALL back. They are all men who should never step foot on soil. Invaders, liars, and violent, corrupt mentally ill people who have grown up in generations of hate, rape, murder, death and destruction. They live, eat, breath, hate and are consumed by their religion 24/7. Not good by any means.

They are all young, military age men???
Doesn't this seem odd to any reasonable person?
The refugees are in the millions and they have the numbers on there side to stay in their
home countries and force regime change and /or defeat ISIS.
Egypt did it after Obama put the Muslim Brotherhood in charge. The Egyptians rioted,
took control of their state and forced government change.Last edited by lorrie; 07-31-2016 at 07:45 PM.

Absolutely right Beezer!
These are adult men, too old and too late to change their mid-evil tribal cultural beliefs and hatred.
The only way to change the teachings of pure evil is through it's children and would take generations before
any real change can be seen.
Muslim schools start teaching their children Islamic ideology and Sharia law from age 10 and
this is where change needs to start.

At the age of SIX...they are done. They grew up in the rape, hate, bombings, disgust and disregard for women, dirt and destruction. You will NEVER rehabilitate these people. Anybody that thinks so can GO live with them. Ask our military. They kill and rape each other, they need to be civilized on their own soil for 20 years and get along before they ever enter the West.
ARTICLE 25...remove Obama from office now. He is a direct threat to our Safety and Security of this Nation and our borders must be shut down.
End the FAILED refugee and asylum programs. This is not 1905...these people are SICK!

EU D-DAY: Turkey demands visa-free travel by OCTOBER or migrant deal is OFF
TURKEY has threatened to end its deal to stem the wave of migrants crossing Europe if it doesn’t get visa-free travel for its 80million citizens.

Mevlut Cavusoglu has warned Turkey will scrap the controversial deal,
The country’s foreign minister has attempted to blackmail Brussels over the escalating migrant crisis by threatening to rip up an agreement to bring the refugee flow under control if does not get its own way.
Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu warned: “If there is no visa liberalisation, we will be forced to distance ourselves from the migrant readmission agreement."
He said "it can be the beginning or the middle of October, but we expect a firm date" for visa-free entry.
Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly pledged to scrap the controversial deal his country has with Brussels, which allows for the return of all economic migrants from Greece, unless work on granting visa-free travel is escalated.
Turkey had promised to stem the escalating migrant crisisIf there is no visa liberalisation, we will be forced to distance ourselves from the migrant readmission agreementTurkey made a landmark deal to stop illegal immigration to Europe via its shores, in return for a staggering £2.5billion, the promise of visa-free travel to much of the bloc plus accelerated talks on EU membership.

But Ankara has complained the beleaguered bloc is not living up to its side of the bargain and has alarmed EU leaders by cracking down on President Erdogan’s opponents, especially after the failed coup.
EU big cheese Jean-Claude Juncker finally admitted last weekend the controversial deal is on the verge of collapse.
He said: “The risk is great. The success of the pact so far is fragile. President Erdogan has several times hinted he wants to terminate the agreement.”
Junker added if the deal did fail “then you can expect that again refugees are standing at the gates of Europe”.
The deal has been blighted by snags because because Turkey, which is fighting a civil war against Kurdish freedom fighters, is not prepared to soften its stringent anti-terror laws which Brussels says curb basic human rights.
As part of the agreement, reached earlier this year, the EU insisted that Ankara must meet 72 basic conditions in order to win visa-free access for its 80 million citizens to the Schengen zone.
But Turkey has recently begun a blackmail campaign to attempt to steamroll through the measure without keeping to its end of the bargain.
Turkey said the EU hasn't kept to his part of the deal.
Eurosceptics have repeatedly warned that President Erdogan knows he holds all the cards in the negotiation, because he can dismantle border controls and has the power to unleash a fresh wave of migration on the continent at the click of a finger.
The EU responded by saying it will not be blackmailed.
A Brussels spokeman added: "Turkey has pledged to meet the requirements and we expect them to comply with these obligations."
