Ingraham: Pelosi ‘Got a Little Taste of the Medicine’ Left Gives Conservatives Often

LifeZette editor-in-chief says disruption of Democratic leader's press conference shows illegals' 'entitlement mentality'

LifeZette Editor-in-Chief Laura Ingraham warned that there is “an entitlement mentality for a whole new generation of people who are in this country” illegally after a group of immigrants shouted down House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) at a Monday press conference, during an interview Tuesday on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends.”

Pelosi held the San Francisco conference to reiterate her support for illegal immigrants who had been brought to the U.S. as children who qualified under the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. President Donald Trump announced that he would be ending the program after six months while punting the responsibility over to Congress to deal with the DACA recipients.

Although Pelosi and other Democrats have shown almost nothing but support for DACA recipients — and illegal immigrants in general, for that matter — the group of immigrants who harangued her Tuesday and called her a "liar" couldn't have cared less.

"Well, maybe Nancy Pelosi now realizes that a lot of these people don't respect borders. They don't respect the borders of our country. They don't respect borders in a public address," Ingraham said. "There's not a great deal of gratitude for even being able to stay in the country temporarily, let alone a sense of, 'What can we do to make it easier for you to press our case?'"

"That image is terrible for those who seek amnesty for millions and millions of people who are living here and oftentimes working here illegally. It's terrible for their message," she added. "I think Nancy Pelosi realized that, and she was caught."

When the illegal immigrants swarmed around her and stole the platform, Pelosi was not amused.

"Do you want to hear an answer, or do you just want to chant? … Do you want to listen, or do you just want to shout?" Pelosi could be heard saying. "Just stop it now … You are not helping the cause … Since you don't want to listen, we'll have to just stop."

Ingraham noted that Pelosi "was caught there, and she couldn't get out. It's kind of scary, frankly, to be surrounded by that many people and screaming, not letting her speak."

"That's what happens to conservatives, former Speaker Pelosi, on college campuses. Now you've got a little taste of the medicine that the Left deals conservatives a lot," she said, noting that the illegal immigrants who angrily interrupted Pelosi were "biting the hand that feeds you."

"Or you give someone an inch, they take a mile. An inch across the border, then it's a mile, then we want rights, now we want benefits, now we want in-state tuition, then we want free health care, and then we want grandma to come in, now we want mom and dad," Ingraham continued.

This escalation, she argued, has created "an entitlement mentality for a whole new generation of people who are in this country."

"I mean, this is the problem with not enforcing the rule of law. If you do not enforce it across the board, you are going to create a generation of entitled people," Ingraham said. "And Pelosi — maybe she understands a little bit better today, or maybe not. We'll see."

LifeZette's editor-in-chief said that the scene the illegal immigrants created with Pelosi Monday offers further evidence that Trump's emphasis on enforcing the rule of law, cracking down on illegal immigration, and promoting national interests is needed desperately.

As Trump prepared to deliver his major address at the United Nations General Assembly later on in the morning, Ingraham predicted that he would promote why his nationalistic "America First" message is both practical and fair.

"I think we will recall what happened when [Trump] went to Europe for his first big trip to Europe, when he urged our allies to contribute more under the obligations financially to NATO and to their military, to their own peacekeeping and defense," she said.

"You know, we're $20 trillion in debt. We're going to support our allies. We're going to defend them, but we ask them that they actually contribute their fair share," Ingraham said. "I think [Trump's] going to take that same attitude in this speech today at the United Nations."

"We're there, we're part of this world community of nations. But if America ceases to be strong, ceases to be a vibrant economic force, then we're not going to be much good to anybody," she continued. "So a strong America is essential for a peaceful world. An America that's weakened year after year with economic malaise or flatlining wages is ultimately not going to be an America that's for good on the world stage."
