Editorial: Mexico's president takes on drug gangs
Thursday, January 25, 2007
Mexico has replaced Colombia as the primary producer and distributor of narcotics in Latin America.
Mexico’s drug lords have become increasing powerful and violent. They threaten the country’s rule of law through corruption, intimidation and murder.
Mexico’s new president, Felipe Calderon, deserves tremendous praise for declaring war on the drug lords.
Calderon is backing up his words with deeds by sending in federal troops to places like Nuevo Laredo, Tijuana and Michoacan where drug gangs have murdered, kidnapped and generally terrorized innocent citizens, while competing drug lords have waged open warfare.
Calderon’s efforts are welcome on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at https://eepurl.com/cktGTn

I hope Calderone is sincere and keeps these actions up. I hope it isn't window dressing.
