Inmate screening put to test in Texas

Inmate screening put to test in Texas
By STEWART M. POWELL WASHINGTON BUREAU
    May 25, 2009, 11:17PM

WASHINGTON — Texas prisons are test-driving the Obama administration’s planned nationwide immigration screening and are relaying for the first time the digital fingerprints of roughly 1,500 arriving inmates each week to the Department of Homeland Security.

The statewide screening at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s 24 facilities will likely extend to the nation’s 1,200 state and federal prisons and 3,100 local jails during President Barack Obama’s first term — all part of a high profile crackdown on criminal aliens who have committed serious crimes such as major drug offenses, murder, rape, robbery and kidnapping while living illegally inside the United States.

The cost to federal taxpayers is about $200 million this year and could grow to $1.1 billion by 2013, a fivefold increase in barely four years.

California is expected to be the next state to participate.

“We’re accelerating (screening) because it works,â€

Now also secure the dam! border, so these criminal aliens can't turn right around and walk back in after they're deported.
Also see this re: criminal alien deported three times calls U.S. "stupid" because its so easy to get back in:

Wish I could be happier about this, but I can't help but suspect this is just a way for Obama Admin to appease American citizens before they try to pass amnesty.

So entering the country illegal is not breaking any laws? So when the 3,000 districts in the country find someone breaking a law in jail, the crime is ignored? This is what is wrong with our government, the courts, and agencies they think the America Taxpayers will permit lack of enforcing immigration laws.

Oh I use the number of 3,000 districts every chance I get. Only 17 of these 3,000 are using 287g Program. The IRS and Social Security are not doing their part, either. If your Social Security number is not used in district obtained, the provider, the government should be responsible for debt attached to the number. In other words the legal user of a Social Security Number should have to go in and prove information and change location of legal user. When a woman or man gets married, they can change their name. So why not change legal user district of use of Social Security Number. A Social Security Number should not be connected to debt at all for collection. If a debt originator has not determined proper ID they have to take the loss, PERIOD.

So does this mean they are giving de facto amnesty to those who enter the United States illegally.....they sure know how to throw out the rule of law when they want to.

Sorry not going for it, stuff your CIR, a 3rd amnesty doesn't cut it, not citizenship for breaking the law!!

The program potentially targets tens of thousands of criminals who happen to be immigrants rather than the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants who have entered the United States illegally but often remain law abiding after their arrival.
Wait a minute. How does an illegal immigrant become law abiding once they enter the country illegally? They HAVE to break the law to get jobs etc. How is that NOT breaking the law? What Nappy meant to say is that we don't hold illegal immigrants to the same laws that Americans are expected to abide by. You can do whatever you want
