International Fugitive Wanted For Molesting Several Boys Arrested In New Jersey

NEWARK, NJ (NJ.com) – A 46-year-old fugitive on a most-wanted list in Canada was caught at Newark Liberty International Airport this week after 17 years on the lam on charges he sexually assaulted five young boys from 1998 to 2003, authorities said Thursday.


Parthasarthie Kapoor, who was on Quebec’s 10-most wanted fugitive list since 2003, was arrested Monday as
he attempted to fly to India, his home country, Montreal police said in a news release.


Kapoor, a Canadian resident,
fled to the United States 17 years ago after learning of the arrest warrant, police said.


Kapoor appeared in Newark federal court on Tuesday before being taken into custody by U.S. Marshals to await an extradition hearing, authorities said.


Interpol said Kapoor faces several charges including sexual assault, incitement of children to engage in sexual acts and production and possession of child pornography.


“From 1998 to 2003, Parthasarthie Kapoor is suspected to have sexually assaulted a total of five victims in Montréal,” police in the statement. “He targeted young boys between the ages of 7 and 14, lured them into his home and then sexually assaulted them.”
