McALLEN — Agents arrested four men after raiding a stash house Tuesday on the city's north side.

Hidalgo County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force agents raided the house on the 4900 block of North 47th Street on Tuesday, according to an agency statement.

Authorities got a tip about a suspicious vehicle at the parking lot of Target, 3600 Nolana Ave., on Tuesday.

Undercover agents followed the vehicle to the North 47th Street residence and surveilled the property.

The agents eventually approached the house and four men attempted to flee on foot. Authorities caught and detained them while investigating the property.

A strong marijuana odor emanated from one of the vehicles parked at the property, agents said. The garage door remained open and several marijuana bundles were seen inside.

After the task force obtained a search warrant, agents seized 848 pounds of marijuana from the property. Authorities also seized two vehicles, $5,000 in cash and items typically used to wrap and package narcotics, according to the statement.

Four men will face felony possession of marijuana charges at an arraignment set for this afternoon. Authorities refused to identify the suspects before they are formally charged.
