Thread: IRS chief: Agency encourages illegal immigrant theft of SSNs to file tax returns

The IRS is struggling to ensure that illegal immigrants are able to illegally use Social Security numbers for legitimate purposes, the agency's head told senators on Tuesday, without allowing the numbers to be used for "bad" reasons.

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen made the statement in response to a question from Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., during a session of the Senate Finance Committee about why the IRS appears to be collaborating with taxpayers who file tax returns using fraudulent information. Coats said that his staff had discovered the practice after looking into agency procedures.

"What we learned is that ... the IRS continues to process tax returns with false W-2 information and issue refunds as if they were routine tax returns, and say that's not really our job," Coats said. "We also learned the IRS ignores notifications from the Social Security Administration that a name does not match a Social Security number, and you use your own system to determine whether a number is valid."

Asked to explain those practices, Koskinen replied, "What happens in these situations is someone is using a Social Security number to get a job, but they're filing their tax return with their [taxpayer identification number]." What that means, he said, is that "they are undocumented aliens … . They're paying taxes. It's in everybody's interest to have them pay the taxes they owe."

As long as the information is being used only to fraudulently obtain jobs, Koskinen said, rather than to claim false tax returns, the agency has an interest in helping them. "The question is whether the Social Security number they're using to get the job has been stolen. It's not the normal identity theft situation," he said.

The comments came in the broader context of a hearing on cybersecurity in the agency. About 464,000 illegally obtained Social Security numbers were targeted by hackers in a February cyber breach of the agency, while information on 330,000 taxpayers was stolen in an unrelated breach last year.

He added that the agency wanted to differentiate that "bad" misuse of personal data from other uses. "There are questions about whether there's a way we could simply advise people… . A lot of the time those Social Security numbers are borrowed from friends and acquaintances and they know they've been used, other times they don't."

He also said that the agency is working to determine "the most effective way to do with this without necessarily having people decide not to file their taxes… . Obviously the priority is to have the IRS collecting those taxes."

"In some cases, there may be a need for statutory authority [from Congress], because we are very sensitive to protecting taxpayer information on both sides," he added.

This is just unbelievable. I mean the utter stupidity, the reckless disregard, the incomprehensible special privileges all to benefit a group of people who aren't even supposed to be in our country.

We have to abolish the income tax and replace it with the FairTax that grinds all this nonsense to a halt overnight.

Congress I am sure is aware that there are about six (6) million SS numbers being used where the average age is between 106 and 130. These numbers are being used to perform jobs in construction services like roofing, carpentry, landscaping and even in the food business by let's just say, illegal immigrants requiring some form of ID to work. Jobs that no 106 year old might be able to perform over any period of time. As a prominent lawyer told me, "They are contributing billions into SS that will never have to be returned". It is easy to turn your back on something like that.

Obama supposedly has a questionable SS# from Connecticut, he never lived there. Why not acquire one in Hawaii for his ice cream shop job. Citizenship? Was he holding an Indonesian one? Leads up to the "foreign student" college attendance.

His whole persona is nothing but deceitful. Everything he touches is destroyed by deceit and underhandedness. The globalists needed someone like him to push their agenda on American citizens.

The Social Security Administration is the entity responsible for protecting SSN numbers, American Workers and US taxpayers. Anyone who believes that at the end of the day illegal aliens are contributing anything positive to our economy is just wrong. They are drain in every possible respect. SSA needs to commence an investigation into this practice by the IRS and shut it down or face dereliction of duty charges themselves as well as all the charges that can be made against the IRS.

Folks, the FairTax is the only solution to IRS. HR 25 in the US House of Representatives and S 155 in the US Senate. Set yourselves and fellow citizens free of this insanity by passing the FairTax. There are no many benefits of this remarkable legislation. It helps balance our trade deficits without confrontations, it helps stop illegal immigration by putting illegal aliens at a disadvantage because they aren't eligible for the Rebate where American citizens and legal residents are eligible. It restores our privacy, simplifies our lives and frees our businesses and employers to soar enabling them to improve wages and benefits without tax costs or penalties.

I mean to have our taxing authority using income tax and social security numbers to promote and reward illegal immigration? Come. On. Wake up folks.

And tell me what happens if or when the illegal alien vacates the U.S. and the IRS audits
a prior year return concluding the filer received improper refund amount or owes more money.....

The IRS wants there tax revenue and if the illegal cannot be found, they go after the true owner of the social security
number to collect the tax.

The worst part of the scandal is the person who had there SS# illegally stolen from them is stuck with the IRS bill and
has absolutely NO RECOURSE to fight it!

The IRS is part of the globalist scheme to bankrupt our country and dissolve our nation. There is no other explanation for these otherwise inexplicable rulings and actions that are so clearly and obviously against tax law, SSA law, and the best interest of the United States. There just isn't any other plausible explanation for their gibberish.

If we really want to save our country, we must do several things, but chief among them is pass the FairTax.

Maybe taxpayers should claim 10 dependents now and not file a return for 2016 next April 2017. Then we all file an extension until October 2017. What does it take to send the message to our corrupt government that we are sick and tired of the waste, fraud and abuse of OUR money? And we want it stopped now.

SSA is very much involved with the takeover agenda - it is a federal agency that tolerates/promotes favortism to immigrants and minorities.

Even their standard telephone speech upon calling their number mentions some sort of immigration thing to ask about. The pre recorded message is hard to clearly make out.

They treat orientals that bring their parents in so sweetly and sign them up for SSI after age 65, knowing full well they put their monies in their adult children's account to stay below the $2000 limit in your account. Same with refugees & even more so when they get to bring THEIR FAMILIES HERE. Everyone is treated well except white citizens. That is one of many negatives resulting from the presidency of O.

SSA is so wrong to do that, artist. That is awful. Trump will straighten SSA out and knock heads in the IRS.
