    A national Hispanic civil-rights organization has decided to pull its 2009 convention out of Kansas City based upon the appointment of a woman to the Parks and Recreation Board who is a member of a suspected racist militia group.
    The board of the National Council of La Raza voted to avoid Kansas City as its 2009 convention site because of the appointment of Ms. Frances Semler to the Parks and Recreation Board who is a member of the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps.
