Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush is defending his use of Spanish on the campaign trail, calling Donald Trump’s criticism of him a “joke” that made him laugh.

“I laughed. I mean this is a joke,” Bush said when asked by ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos about his response to Trump’s attack. “Part of it is, you laugh, because it’s so bizarre but it’s hurtful for a lot of people and Mr. Trump know there is. He’s appealing to their angst and fears rather than higher hopes.”

In an interview with Breitbart News, Trump chided Bush for speaking Spanish to attack him.

“I like Jeb,” Trump said. “He’s a nice man. But he should really set the example by speaking English while in the United States.”

During an interview with “Good Morning America,” Bush defended his use of Spanish in an appearance at a bilingual school in Miami, after students and reporters asked him questions in Spanish.

“[T]hese young beautiful kids all speak English but also speak Spanish and one of them asked me a question in Spanish and I answered it. That’s the reality of America, that’s the goodness of America. That’s the kind of America we want,” he said, referring to the multicultural legacy of the United States.

Bush suggested that Trump was hypocritical in his attack, pointing out that the billionaire once had a contract with the Spanish language network Univision. “Are we going to close all the foreign language classes?” he asked.

“This is a diverse country,” Bush continued. “We should celebrate that diversity and embrace a set of shared values. Mr. Trump doesn’t believe in those shared values. He wants to tear us down.”

Bush dismissed Trump for “trying to insult his way to the presidency.”

“[I]t’s not going to work,” Bush said. “People want an uplifting hopeful message.”

When asked if he would support Donald Trump’s candidacy if he won the Republican nomination, Bush chuckled.

“Yeah I would, of course,” he said.

If you're eligible to vote in this country you should be able to speak and understand English. NO candidate for any local, state, or federal office should address citizens in any language other than English.

Jeb Bush really does not know when and where to fight or flee does he. Fighting Trump over English Vs. Spanish is the deathblow to the Bush campaign!

Jeb Bush has a very odd sense of reality. In his reality, illegals are virtuous and never do wrong.... and now they all speak English.

During an interview with “Good Morning America,” Bush defended his use of Spanish in an appearance at a bilingual school in Miami, after students and reporters asked him questions in Spanish.

Now, we know this is simply not true. Regardless of whether the "beautiful" kids in that school were immigrants or illegals, it is well known that bilingual education, also known as ESL (English as a Second Language) produces graduates who often still rely on their primary language, usually Spanish.

The Los Angeles Unified School District confirmed this week what many educators, parents, and critics have known for years. Long-term bilingual education programs do not benefit students, but instead keep them locked out of the mainstream and more likely to drop out of school. Nearly 30% of Los Angeles Unified School District students placed in English language learning classes in early primary grades were still in the program when they started high school, increasing their chances of dropping out, according to a new study released Wednesday.

Keep in mind that that 30% figure was just those "still in the program". Many more "graduates" of the program are hardly fluent in English, either. It is only through immersion classes in English that students learn our national language.

But all Jeb Bush sees are beautiful young kids who all speak English... but ask him questions in Spanish.

We're a nation in danger of losing our national language. Do you think when you call companies in Mexico you have to "Press 1" for Spanish? Are there areas in every major Russian city where Russian is not spoken? Does Norway have a "Latino Media" which broadcasts exclusively in another language? When you vote in Finland, are there ballots also available in French and German? When you ask for help in a store in Italy, should you expect to find salesclerks who are only fluent in Swedish?

Bush is perpetuating the myth that the massive wave of immigration (legal and otherwise) is assimilating nicely and learning our language. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Then according to Jeb, if everyone is speaking English now, as they should, it's time to end "Hispanic" as a "minority" protected class, which was always wrong to begin with, since the vast majority of "Hispanics" are Caucasian and need no protection any different than someone whose ancestors were from Italy or Greece or Austria or Saudi Arabia or Russia.

I'm hoping Carson tries some spanish during the debate tomorrow nite!
