Considering the fact that our border with Mexico is unsecured, and many of those here illegally have been deported multiple times...many illegal aliens have committed not "an act of love," as Bush asserts, but have instead committed a felony.

On Sunday, former Florida governor and possible 2016 Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush appeared on Fox News and gave his ill-informed opinion on the law, in regards to how people enter this country.
Bush stated:
The way I look at this is someone who comes to our country because they couldn't come legally, they come to our country because their family's dad who loves their children was worried that their children didn't have food on the table, and they wanted to make sure their family was intact. And they crossed the border because they had no other means to work to be able to provide for their family. Yes, they broke the law, but it's not a felony. it's kind of -- it's a -- it's an act of love."
"I honestly think that's a different kind of crime that should be, there should be a price paid, but it shouldn't be -- it shouldn't rile people up that people are actually coming to this country to provide for their families," Bush continued.
Listen to Bush's comments in their entirety...
The tired, flowery, 'poor migrant' rhetoric aside, Bush is ignorant of the law...
While entering this country illegally is only a misdemeanor the first time one is caught doing so, it is a felony every time thereafter.
U.S. immigration law states:
Aliens can be charged with felony illegal re-entry if they are found to have entered the U.S. without permission after having been denied admission; deported from the country; or departed the U.S. voluntarily while under an order of removal.
That crime is punishable by up to two years in federal prison.
Considering the fact that our border with Mexico is unsecured, and many of those here illegally have been deported multiple times...many illegal aliens have committed not "an act of love," as Bush asserts, but have instead committed a felony.
