Fox News host Tucker Carlson battled attorney Raul Reyes Friday on whether immigrant families in California are assimilating to American culture.

“Since you’re throwing facts around — you’re kind of in the deep end of the fact pool here — what percentage of households in California right now speak Spanish at home, do you know?” asked The Daily Caller co-founder.

Reyes responded that he didn’t know the number offhand.

“Slow down, let me tell you – over 40,” responded Carlson.

Carlson then noted, “that’s the opposite of how we’ve always done immigration in the past.”

He added, “New immigrants must adopt our culture and our language and you have to do it thoroughly, but we are not doing that now.”

Reyes insisted that the American economy has “room to grow and that immigrants are the people who can drive parts of our economy.”

“I’ve reached the conclusion, you don’t care whether this is good for the country,” Carlson responded, saying that Reyes completely missed the point that new immigrants cannot perform new jobs considering “technology is destroying a lot of jobs.”

“They have the legal right as foreign citizens… What about my right as an American?” Tucker stated.

Forget this poverty myth, too. There is a Goodwill As-Is store in my neighbohood. I don't buy much there, but if you need the stuff they have you are paying one-tenth that of retail. They sell it by weight and on something like ten pounds the priced drops, and twenty pounds you're paying just half. Always lot of immigrants, legal and illegal--and Goodwill goes out of their way to help them.

Factor in work under the table, paid in cash. Factor in government benefits they discover they can get because their reported income is low. Factor in their professed ignorance about our laws. Factor in government officials eager to help their cause. I have seen them demanding public funds "so our kids won't become criminals!" Right, threaten criminal activity to get money you shouldn't have in the first place!

They also take clothes from Churches and then SELL them at swap meets.

I hadn't thought of that Beezer. The churches are most generous to immigrants and illegal aliens, too.

They are scavengers, liars, cheaters, breeders and thieves. Not the people we want in this country.

Illegal aliens live off the backs of taxpayers, for the most part, yet most all have smartphones, drive nice trucks , and have plenty to send back home over the border. Meanwhile, American citizens see stagnant wages and ever increasing taxes and insurance premiums, used to subsidize those who flaunt our laws and mock our country with zero desire to assimilate .
