Illegal Immigrant from United Arab Emirates Arrested in FLA for Possession of Ammunition
    1

    by CAROLINE MAY10 Dec 201510

An illegal immigrant from the United Arab Emirates is facing charges in Florida for illegally possessing ammunition, the U.S. United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida A. Lee Bentley, III revealed Thursday.

According to a complaint, 25-year-old Hamid Mohamed Ahmed Ali Rehaif had been living at a hotel in Melbourne for 53 days, checking out each morning and checking back into the hotel each evening. He further had paid over $11,000 in cash for room fees.

Rehaif admitted to investigators that he had several firearms in his possession, and had fired them at two local gun ranges, but claimed he’d recently sold or disposed of the weapons.

“Agents located rounds of handgun and rifle ammunition in his hotel room and in a storage unit that he had rented, but they did not locate any firearms,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office explained in a release.

The complaint notes that Rehaif was admitted to the U.S. on a student visa in 2013. He was enrolled at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida but was dismissed in the fall of last year. He failed to leave the country within 30 days of the end of his student status. By failing to leave Rehaif became an illegal immigrant.

He has been charged with possession of ammunition by an unlawful or illegal alien, a penalty that carried up to 10 years in federal prison.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case and it will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Bruce S. Ambrose.

Emirati man in US illegally arrested on weapons charge in Melbourne

Last Updated: Thursday, December 10, 2015, 12:27 PM

MELBOURNE -- A man from the United Arab Emirates living in Melbourne illegally was arrested Wednesday on weapons charges.

The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District Florida said Hamid Mohamed Ahmed Ali Rehaif, 25, is charged with possession of ammunition by an unlawful or illegal alien.

He is being held in federal custody and has waived his detention hearing, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. He is scheduled to have his preliminary hearing in U.S. District Court in Orlando on Monday.

Investigators say in 2013, Rehaif was admitted into the United States under a student visa and had been enrolled at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne but was terminated as a student in the fall of 2014.

When Rehaif failed to leave the country within 30 days of his termination as a student, he became an unlawful alien, federal officials said.

On Wednesday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents said they made contact with Rehaif at a hotel in Melbourne, where he had been living for the past two months, paying more than $11,000 in cash for room fees.

Agents said Rehaif admitted to possessing several firearms but had recently sold or disposed of them but admitted to firing the weapons at two local gun ranges.

Agents said they located rounds of handgun and rifle ammunition in his hotel room and in a storage unit he had rented but did not find any firearms.

If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison.

Trump is so right, both on deporting illegal aliens and stopping Muslim and other immigration. In his immigration plan posted on his website, he calls for a pause on immigration.

Many may have missed this listed under "immigration moderation" at the end of Trump's plan written and posted months ago:

Immigration moderation. Before any new green cards are issued to foreign workers abroad, there will be a pause where employers will have to hire from the domestic pool of unemployed immigrant and native workers. This will help reverse women's plummeting workplace participation rate, grow wages, and allow record immigration levels to subside to more moderate historical averages.
    https://www.donaldjtrump.com/positio...gration-reform

Also, this on visa workers from Trump's website above:

Requirement to hire American workers first. Too many visas, like the H-1B, have no such requirement. In the year 2015, with 92 million Americans outside the workforce and incomes collapsing, we need companies to hire from the domestic pool of unemployed. Petitions for workers should be mailed to the unemployment office, not USCIS.
So Trump's position on Muslim immigration is really no different than his position on all immigration. But then our crooked politicians, government officials and hysterical news media are far too stupid to realize that because they're too lazy to read his plans when he writes them. Just like they were too stupid and lazy to read the headline of his press release which stated the plan was about Muslim immigration, not American citizens.

When visas expire, track them down and deport! This country should be run as a business - business is profit oriented, plus ours should be security and "watch your step" oriented - that is the strong country which we Americans deserve. Playing the fool is not an American style even though it is being tried to be put upon our citizenry.

    Absolutely!

Have you heard Lindsey Graham out there on the stump today saying he would rather see another Democrat in the White House than Donald Trump?! I think Graham is on dope or alcohol.

Has anyone found anyway to find out why Lindsey Graham has been to Syria 36 times in the past 2 years?

YES. But where do you look for them when they come in on a tourist visa to visit Disneyland, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and New York City? They can be anywhere in the country.
Or they come in on a student visa and stop going to school.
They can go anywhere in the country before you even know they stopped going to school.

Judge rules Arab ex-student accused of storing ammo must remain in custody

ORLANDO, Fla. - A judge on Monday ruled that there was probable cause to keep a 25-year-old United Arab Emirates citizen in federal custody after he was arrested in Central Florida for unlawfully possessing ammunition.

Hamid Mohamed Ahmed Ali Rehaif was arrested last week on a charge of possession of ammunition by an unlawful or illegal alien.

According to a complaint, Rehaif was admitted into the United States in 2013 under a student visa. He had been enrolled at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, but was terminated as a student in the fall of 2014, officials said.

Rehaif failed to leave the country within 30 days of his termination as a student and became an unlawful alien, officials said.

A Homeland Security special agent testified Monday, saying Rehaif should have left country as soon as he was no longer enrolled.

The agent said in court that Rehaif has no known links to any terrorist group but added that an investigation is ongoing.

Three women who identified themselves as family members said Rehaif was targeted by authorities because of his race. They described him as kind and loving, calling him a "teddy bear."

Law enforcement agents contacted Rehaif last Wednesday at a hotel in Melbourne, where he had been living for the last two months, paying more than $11,000 in cash for room fees, authorities said. Rehaif admitted to possessing several firearms, but said that he had recently sold or disposed of them, officials said. He also admitted to firing those weapons at two local gun ranges, according to officials.

Authorities said Rehaif also spent time at gun ranges, one in Orlando, the other at FrogBones Gun Range in Melbourne.

"He shot better than other people I've seen on the range," manager Doug Torpy said.

Torpy said Rehaif visited the range twice, most recently on Dec. 2, renting a Glock 43 for practice. However, Tropy said there was nothing strange about his demeanor.

"He had the proper documentation to be able to shoot and be in possession of a firearm, so he presented everything to us and acted as if he was in a sound mind," Tropy said.

Agents located rounds of handgun and rifle ammunition in his hotel room and in a storage unit that he had rented, but they did not find any firearms, the complaint said.

Investigators said Rehaif admitted to being in the country illegally.

This case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security investigators and the FBI.

He faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison.

Are these 3 women "family members" in the United States?

Sounds like the Feds need the help of State and Local Law Enforcement to enforce US immigration law.

United Arab Emirates Man Sentenced For Possessing Ammunition In Florida

ORLANDO, Florida – U.S. District Judge John Antoon, II has sentenced Hamid Mohamed 25-year-old Ahmed Ali Rehaif to 18 months in federal prison for possession of a firearm and ammunition by an unlawful alien. Following his prison term, he will be deported back to the United Arab Emirates.

Rehaif was found guilty by a federal jury in May 2016.

According to evidence presented at trial, Rehaif was admitted into the United States in 2013 under a student visa in order to attend the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT). After completing three semesters at FIT, he was academically dismissed in December 2014.

As a result, Rehaif became an unlawful alien when he failed to immediately depart the United States.

Following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, law enforcement agents made contact with Rehaif at a hotel in Melbourne where federal officials say he had been living for two months, paying more than $11,000 in cash for room fees.

During that time, Rehaif possessed firearms and ammunition at a local shooting range in Melbourne, Florida. In addition, he provided ammunition to two hotel employees as “gifts.” At the sentencing hearing, the Court found that Rehaif had illegally purchased three other firearms.

Rehaif had faced a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison.
