Kelli Ward Beats John McCain in Latest AZ Poll

Kelli Ward Beats John McCain in Latest AZ Poll

    by Michelle Moons21 Aug 2015San Diego, CA4,874
Arizona State Senator Kelli Ward, challenging U.S. Senator Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), leads the five-term Washington insider for the first time in a poll.

Her lead stands at nine percent.
Ward was the choice of 45 percent of the registered Arizona voters polled, while McCain only garnered 36 percent. 1,271 of the more than 1,400 voters polled say they intend to vote in the 2016 primary election. Approximately one fifth remained undecided at this early stage of the race.
Independent polling company Gravis Marketing conducted the August 15 poll. It surveyed 844 Republican primary voters and 427 Democratic.
These new McCain versus Ward results vary significantly from May.

Public Policy Polling results then included 600 Arizona voters, 300 marked as Republican primary voters. In that early poll a Ward-McCain matchup gave Ward 31 percent and McCain 44 percent with 25 percent undecided.
Both Ward and McCain would beat Democratic candidate
    Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D-AZ)

in a general election, the poll suggests. Ward beats Kirkpatrick in the poll 43 to 38 percent while McCain beats Kirkpatrick 48 to 35 percent. The May PPP results showed McCain’s approval rating down to 41 percent just among 300 Republican primary voters polled.
Ward spoke exclusively to Breitbart News about the results:
Primary voters of all ages and political ideologies who participated in this poll are making it clear that John McCain is not their choice for U.S. Senate. My name recognition is increasing which is very encouraging because we are so early in the election cycle. Arizona voters are looking for a fresh, bold, proven leader with new ideas to move our country in the right direction. Over thirty years of the same old Establishment pragmatism has worn thin and turned many of those currently in D.C. into Democrat-lite lawmakers – people are ready to Shake Up D.C. with me.
“Join me and thousands of my fellow Arizonans who want to change D.C. at,” she added.
The Gravis Marketing poll was sponsored by One America News Network.

Large Number of AZ Legislators Endorse Kelli Ward Over John McCain

    28 Dec 2015

Dr. Kelli Ward is out with a long list of Arizona legislators supporting her primary challenge to five-term U.S. Senator Sen. John McCain (R-AZ).

Ward — a recently former state Senator in her own right — counted 17 endorsements from legislators and state leaders in the first major endorsement list of her campaign. That list includes almost a third of State Senators that have chosen to back Ward over the establishment candidate McCain.

“Arizona needs strong and consistent leadership that can be counted on,” Ward says. “What we have right now is a track record of broken promises and a laundry list of failed policies that are hurting Arizona and its people- this needs to end. I am happy to have the support of my colleagues as we work together to change the direction of Washington.”

Arizona Senate President pro tempore Sylvia Allen and Majority Whip Gail Griffin are among the list of five senators supporting Ward, along with state Senators Steve Smith, Nancy Barto, and David Farnsworth.

Arizona State House of Representatives Members endorsing Ward include: Rep. Mark Finchem (R-Tucson), Rep. Anthony Kern (R-Glendale), Rep. Jill Norgaard (R-Phoenix), Rep. Vince Leach (R-SaddleBrooke) and Rep. Warren Peterson (R-Gilbert).

Joining in the list of new endorsements are:

    Former Senator Al Melvin

    Former Senate President Russell Pearce

    Former Rep. Carl Seel

    Former Rep. John Fillmore

    Sheriff Richard Mack

Gilbert City Council member Emilena Turley

    Former AZGOP Chairman Tom Morrissey

These endorsements come in addition to early December news that the second amendment defending group Gun Owners of America endorsed Ward over McCain.

An August poll showed Ward beating McCain by nine percent. Then In October she released monumental fundraising numbers, bringing in over half a million dollars for her first quarterly report. As of that same report the campaign also still had $320,000 of that in the bank.

While in the Arizona state Senate Ward served as chair of the Education Committee. She was first elected in 2012 and resigned to dedicate her full attention to overtaking U.S. Senator John McCain in the 2016 primary and going on to win the seat in November.
