Thursday, June 18, 2009, 10:54 AM
Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) is offering an E-Verify amendment to the House Agricultural Appropriations write-up. Rep. Kingston offered a similar amendment to the Homeland Security appropriations write-up that was defeated last week 23-to-35.
The amendment would prevent agricultural spending going to contractors not using E-Verify. The amendment states...
None of the funds made available in this Act may be used to enter into a contract with an entity that is eligible to participate, but has not elected to
participate, in the basic pilot program described in section 403(a) of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (8 U.S.C. 1324a note; commonly known as the E-Verify program).
