LOS ANGELES — More than a dozen protesters arrested after chaining themselves together on a downtown Los Angeles street to protest Arizona's new immigration law are out of jail.

Protest organizers said Sunday that 14 activists were released late Friday, a day after being charged with interfering with police work and failure to disperse. They are due in court June 4.

The activists lay down in front of federal immigration detention center, blocking traffic for about four hours.

Dozens of officers surrounded the demonstrators before declaring an unlawful assembly and making arrests.

The demonstrators oppose Arizona's new law and say illegal immigrants now in the U.S should be legalized.
