Deputy: Van Idling In Driveway Leads To Break-In Arrests

Alamance County, NC-- Three men are in jail after an alert deputy caught some suspects at the scene of the crime.

While on patrol in the 200 block of Burch Bridge Rd, the deputy saw a van idling in a driveway and a man with a screen from a window. The deputy turned around to investigate further and the van drove off at a high rate of speed.

The deputy gave chase and said someone threw the screen out of the van. He called for back-up to check the home. It was determined that the men had broken into the house and the deputy had interrupted the break-in.

After stopping the van, the men inside identified as: Josue Luis Vasques, 21 of Durham, Edwin Portillo, 22 of Durham and Edgar Joseu Zelaya, 19 of Durham, were all charged with felonious breaking, entering and injury to real property.

Investigators also processed them under the 287g program and federal immigration detainers were filed on each of them by the Alamance County Sheriff's Office.

The men are being held in the Alamance County Detention Center.
