PRAIRIEVILLE - Deputies in Ascension Parish arrested a man following a rape investigation involving a 72-year-old victim.

Elmer Alexander Esquivel Ramos, 33, is charged with aggravated rape and second-degree battery. Ramos is an illegal alien, according to Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeff WIley.
Deputies say Ramos was staying at a couple's home in Prairieville when he attacked the victim in the middle of the night.

After the victim was raped and beaten, investigators say the victim managed to flee the bedroom and alert the homeowners of what occurred.

Ramos was booked into the the Ascension Parish jail without bond. U. S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents have also placed a hold on Ramos due to his illegal citizenship in the U.S.

Illegal alien arrested for allegedly beating, raping 72-year-old woman

PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (NBC33) — An illegal alien was arrested for allegedly raping a 72-year-old woman.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident occurred on Monday, Oct. 29. We’re told the victim was a guest at the home of a couple in Prairieville. She told investigators that a man who went by the name of “Jose” was also an invited guest at the home, and he allegedly raped and beat her after everyone had gone to bed for the evening.

Investigators say “Jose” had become acquainted with the male owner of the home roughly a year ago. The two maintained contact on occasion and that night “Jose” showed up at the couple’s home.

Although “Jose” stayed outside of the home most of the night, he was allowed to sleep at the home that night. The victim says she woke up at roughly 5:00 a.m. after “Jose” snuck into her room, placed his hand over her mouth, and allegedly beat, then raped her.

“Jose” fled the home after the incident and the victim told the homeowners what happened. The victim was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital for treatment.

Investigators identified the man known as “Jose” as Elmer Alexander Esquivel Ramos, 33. Although he maintained an address in Prairieville, officials say he is an illegal alien.

Ramos was arrested and charged with Aggravated Rape and Second-Degree Battery. He is currently locked up in the Ascension Parish Jail without bond. U. S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents have also placed a hold on Ramos due to his illegal citizenship in the U. S.
