Immigration lawyers, religious leaders fight ICE deportation in Rodriguez case

Posted 11:06 AM, June 19, 2017, by Alex Green, Updated at 12:56PM, June 19, 2017

HOUSTON– Legal experts, religious leaders and community Leaders gathered outside of the Houston Federal Courthouse to plead for a federal injunction on behalf of the Rodriguez family, whose father Juan Rodriguez is facing deportation.

“Mr. Rodriguez is said to turn himself in on June 29th to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). With his legal team, we are exploring every legal avenue which could help Mr. Rodriguez stay with his family in the U.S. By deporting the father the government will be, in essence deporting the U.S. citizen children,” said Cesar Espinosa, Executive Director FIEL.

The FIEL organization advocates for fair laws for immigrant youth, works with immigrant families and students to gain access to higher education for all people regardless of immigration status.
According to a survey by the Atlantic daily, ICE has arrested more than 41,300 undocumented immigrants since President Trump signed executive orders to tighten border security and crack down on sanctuary cities.

“It’s very unjust what’s going on, when our new president came in he said they were just deporting criminals and bad hombres but my dad is a good man,” Rodriguez’s eldest daughter Karen Rodriguez said. He contributes to his community, he pays his taxes, he’s established something here. They are trying to deport him and separate my family and that’s not right.

The Rodriguez’s family is of the Seventh Day Adventist faith and said that it is against their religious belief of family and unity to separate their family. By deporting the father the family would be in violation of their faith.

“We are appealing to the authorities not to disrupt this family, not to try to penalize this family. What they are doing is penalizing the whole idea of family,” Archbishop Fiorenza said.

A statement from Congressman Al Green was read at the press conference by Espinosa, which said in part:

This is a human tragedy unfolding before our very eyes. A father is being separated from his wife, a husband is being separated from his children and a family is losing their bread winner. The wife has health issues and will not be able to provide for the family. The wife and children are American citizens who may need government assistance to survive. Where will they go? What will they do? This should not happen in the richest and greatest country in the world, shame on us,” said Green.

The local community and facebook have continued to push for sympathy in hopes that the case will be dropped against the Rodriguez family.

So, are we to believe he was just ordered out of the Country for no reason at all? I'm disgusted with these articles that make illegals out to be angels. There had to have been a reason he was being looked at in the first place.

Sleaze your way back to your country, take the kids with you too ....perhaps on your way out, you should repay our citizens for the social services to birth them, feed them, health and dental care. school them, teachers costs for ESL.

Am I actually hearing, deporting the father is like deporting American citizens because he says his kids are? Oh what a man!

Go be a "breadwinner" in your country.

Does not matter if you are Legal or Illegal...the parents are the guardians and custodians of their MINOR children...not US taxpayers.

They are YOUR children...take your whole family with you if you are here illegallly.
ILLEGAL ALIENS HAVE "BROKEN" OUR IMMIGRATION SYSTEM

DO NOT REWARD THEM - DEPORT THEM ALL
