Hispanic immigration boom a ‘wedge issue’ for U.S. politicians

WASHINGTON -- When the Miami-based television network Univision announced last month it would hold the first Spanish-language presidential campaign debates in U.S. history, its executives advertised the forums as a golden opportunity for candidates to woo America’s fastest-growing bloc of voters, Hispanics.

Then they started getting rejection letters.

First Democrat Hillary Clinton said no. Then Republican front-runners Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney took a pass on the debates.

“We should not be doing things that encourage people to stay separate in a separate language,â€

There's one flaw in the thinking above; it assumes that illegal immigration will continue at the present rate. That's a pretty big assumption, because that will not happen if we secure our borders, and deport the illegals already here. I have some news for Mr. Sabato; closing that border is exactly what we intend to do, and soon! We are going to stop this illegal plague of locusts, and when we do, those politicians hoping to pander to a majority Hispanic electorate are going to be left out in the cold (which is a kinder fate than they deserve). This issue gives us a big stick of our own, and we are going to beat both major parties over the head with it until they get the idea that we will not tolerate our nation being turned into a third world cesspool like Mexico!

Pander at your pearl Demacrates!!! There is a year and a half to the election and as everyday passes more Americans are going to see the damage this is doing to our country and it will be to late for the Dems to flip flop on this issue!
