BUCKEYE, Ariz. - The suspect in a 2005 homicide in Buckeye, Ariz. has been captured after five years on the run, in Sonora, Mexico.

15-year-old Jose Leon was found dead of a gunshot wound back on Oct. 29, 2005, in Buckeye.

Buckeye Police developed leads and tentatively identified the homicide suspect as a man known as "Guerro." Family members later identified "Guerro" as Adrian Barron.

An arrest warrant was issued but Barron could not be located. Detectives later found that Barron and his family were living in Mexico.

Barron fell off the radar for the next few years, until US Marshals determined through interagency efforts that Barron had enlisted in the Mexican military under his true name, Manuel Alberto Hernandez-Barron.

Last week, Barron was arrested on a Mexican military base. Now 24, he is awaiting extradition to the U.S. to face homicide charges.
