Laredo Police discover undocumented immigrants inside stash house

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - The Laredo Police Department got more than they bargained for when they went to issue a search warrant at a home in south Laredo.

Officers were searching for a specific person at the residence but 70 undocumented immigrants instead.

The incident happened on Friday morning at the 4500 block of Corrada.

According to police, when they knocked on the door to issue the warrant, they could hear the commotion inside the home.

When officers opened the door, they found 70 undocumented immigrants inside the home.

The majority of the people were men and a few were women; all living inside a three bedroom home.

Officer Joe Baeza with the Laredo Police Department says, "So for right now, we are still in the preliminary face of this investigation. In fact, we don't even know if the person we were looking for is actually in the group of people who are inside."

The person police was searching for has a warrant on charges of burglary of a vehicle and theft of property.

The nationality of the group of people inside the home is not known at this time, since they are still being processed by federal authorities.
