Laredo Sector Border Patrol Renders Aid to Individual Injured by Jumping onto Train

LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Freer Station rendered aid to an individual who was injured while jumping onto a moving train.

The dangerous incident occurred late in the evening on July 15, when agents received a report of an individual who had severed part of his foot while attempting to board a moving train between Freer and San Diego, Texas. The train could not be stopped until it reached San Diego.

Agents were ready to provide aid to the individual when the train stopped. Due to the terrain, agents had to transport the individual, a Mexican citizen in the country illegally, to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel waiting nearby. EMS took the individual to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Even with the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Laredo Sector continue to render aid to those in need, often in life-threatening situations. The Laredo Sector Border Patrol continues to warn against the dangers of people crossing illegally into the United States through dangerous and hazardous means.
