Hailing Dave Brat's shocking victory over House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) as an "amazing moment for the people," conservative talk radio host Laura Ingraham said Cantor's defeat is a wake-up call for Republicans on amnesty.

Appearing on Fox News, Ingraham, who has used her national radio platform to fight for American workers of all backgrounds and ethnicities against amnesty and who campaigned for Brat last week, said Cantor's loss is a "massive wake-up call for the Republican Party – if they choose to actually wake up at this point."

She said if Republicans do not wake up and instead continue to move forward with "immigration reform," which is "a pathway to some type of amnesty at some point," Republican leaders will "put a wedge down the middle of the Republican Party that will prevent Republicans from winning" in 2016, which is "exactly the opposite" of what the GOP leadership is contending.

Emphasizing that Cantor's loss cannot "be discounted" and is an "an absolute repudiation of establishment politics," Ingraham mentioned that Brat was outspent 22-1. She said Brat did not have a lot of money, but he had a lot of heart, compassion, and ideas.

So did regular voters who backed him. Ingraham met nearly 700 of them last week when she campaigned for Brat, and she said those who attended the event were from all backgrounds and "could have been doing just about anything else that night." Brat told Breitbart News Sunday that some of those who attended even parked in Cantor's cul-de-sac.

Ingraham said they were there to see Brat because voters are tired of seeing a flat-lining middle class while Mark Zuckerberg and the "uber rich" continue to do well while pushing for amnesty programs that make it tougher for American workers to improve their lives.

Ingraham said Cantor's loss represents an opportunity for Republicans to build a coalition of working Americans that includes Black Americans, Asian Americans, and Latino Americans who "want to see rising wages" so legal immigrants and American citizens can have better lives.

"They were just really tired of the representation that they have been getting," Ingraham said of voters she met last week in Cantor's district. "They are tired of business as usual in Washington."

As for the claim that Brat did not have the "experience" that Cantor had in a nation in which Congress's approval ratings are at historic lows, Ingraham simply asked, "What have the experienced people done for us lately?"

Eric Cantor, the Republican House Majority leader from Virginia just got his ass handed to him by a barely funded Tea Party candidate who was said to not have a chance against the powerful and highly funded Cantor – but guess what? See ya’!
Cantor got his ass primaried after pushing for Amnesty and meeting with the evil “Main Street Republican Partnership” Super PAC, whose sole purpose is to destroy Tea Party candidates and send conservative Republicans the message their input is no longer welcome, now that establishment Republicans have things under control.

In an upset for the ages, Majority Leader Eric Cantor of Virginia, the second-most powerful man in the House, was dethroned Tuesday by a little-known, tea party-backed Republican primary challenger carried to victory on a wave of public anger over calls for looser immigration laws.

“This is a miracle from God that just happened,” exulted David Brat, an economics professor, as his victory became clear in the congressional district around Virginia’s capital city.

Speaking to downcast supporters, Cantor conceded, “Obviously we came up short” in a bid for renomination to an eighth term. The victory was by far the biggest of the 2014 campaign season for tea party forces, although last week they forced veteran Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran into a June 24 runoff, and hop State Sen. Chris McDaniel can prevail then. Cantor’s defeat was the first primary setback for a senior leader in Congress in recent years.

The outcome may well mark the end of Cantor’s political career, and aides did not respond Tuesday night when asked if the majority leader, 51, would run a write-in campaign in the fall. But its impact on the fate of immigration legislation in the current Congress seemed clearer still. Conservatives will now be emboldened in their opposition to legislation to create a path to citizenship for immigrants living in the country illegally, and party leaders who are more sympathetic to such legislation will likely be less willing to try.

The majority leader had been tugged by two warring forces in his party and in recent weeks sought to emphasize his opposition to far-reaching immigration legislation as Brat’s challenge gained force. Last month, a feisty crowd of Brat supporters booed Cantor in front of his family at a local party convention. Still, neither he nor other House leaders betrayed any serious concern that his tenure was in danger, and his allies leaked a private poll in recent days that claimed he had a comfortable lead over Brat. In the end, despite help from establishment groups, Cantor’s repudiation was complete in an area that first sent him to Congress in 2000.

“Tonight is a major victory for the Tea Party as they yet again pull the Republican Party further to the radical right,” said Nancy Pelosi. “As far as the midterms elections are concerned, it’s a whole new ballgame.”

True Reform Candidate Ousts House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in GOP Primary

Tue, Jun 10^th 2014 @ 9:02 pm EDTRandolph-Macon University Professor Dave Brat has defeated House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in Virginia's 7th Congressional District GOP primary by a 12 point margin. Brat completed the NumbersUSA immigration-reduction survey and was rated as a True Reformer, whereas just yesterday, Cantor called on Pres. Obama to forge a deal on immigration that would include an amnesty for some illegal aliens.

Brat received 56% of vote and the race was called by the Associated Press just about an hour after polls closed.

Chuck Todd told Rachel Maddow on MSNBC that Rep. Cantor's defeat in the Republican Primary today killed any chance of "immigration reform" this year.
Many others are concluding the same. We certainly hope they are right.

My public statement this evening was:

"The wage-earning voters of Rep. Cantor's district apparently felt abandoned by his immigration positions that virtually ignored their anxiety about stagnant wages and high unemployment and that projected primary concern for unlawful foreign visitors and employers seeking more foreign workers.

"Prof. Brat's insistence that immigration policies should focus on the needs of American workers and taxpayers provided a sharp contrast to the corporate-driven vision of the top echelon of the Republican Party that Rep. Cantor exemplified.

"Prof. Brat pledged to seek all 12 of NumbersUSA's legislative priorities, which essentially are the recommendations of the bi-partisan U.S. Commission on Immigration Reform to cut legal immigration by half and to turn off the magnets for illegal immigration."

Brat is an economics professor who understands that even Congress can't revoke the law of supply and demand. He believes that if Congress floods labor markets with foreign workers, wages will be depressed, and that the government shouldn't do that to its citizens.

Prof. Brat said he supports eliminating birthright citizenship for the births to illegal aliens and foreign visitors, eliminating chain migration and the lottery, and stopping the importation of unnecessary foreign workers.

Rep. Cantor, on the other hand, was part of the House Republican leadership in 2011 and 2012 who refused to allow a floor vote on an exceptionally strong E-Verify bill passed by the House Judiciary Committee.

Behind the scenes all last year, Cantor sought to engineer passage of a series of bills that apparently would have given amnesty to at least a couple of million illegal aliens while greatly increasing the number of new foreign workers brought into the country. While Cantor was willing to require additional enforcement along with those increases, his influence repeatedly watered down the effectiveness of any new enforcement that was written into bills.

Nonetheless, none of those bills has come to the floor -- and he never unveiled the "Kids Act" amnesty despite talking about it for a year and giving ammunition to those who sought to unseat him.

Cantor's plummet from public approval based on the amnesty issue is even greater than that of Sen. Marco Rubio last year who went from being the most popular 2016 GOP presidential contender to an also-ran after leading the charge for the Gang of Eight amnesty.

We tend to agree with TV commentators tonight who suggest that Cantor's loss today threatens to greatly unsettle the House GOP leadership in ways yet to be determined.

Laura Ingraham, who campaigned for Dave Brat, tonight weighed in on his surprising Virginia GOP primary win. The tea party-backed challenger defeated House Majority Leader Eric Cantor this evening.

“This is a massive wakeup call to the Republican Party if they choose to wake up at this point,” Ingraham said, since much of the campaign centered on immigration reform. Brat has accused Cantor of being a cheerleader for amnesty.

Will Exploding Crisis of Young Illegals Flooding America Sink GOP House Hotshot Eric Cantor?

Numerous news sources are reporting that many thousands of illegal immigrant children are flooding across the southern border of the United States. Critics of the Obama administration blame the president’s “welcoming” policies for encouraging this onslaught of young illegals, many of them from crime- and poverty-stricken Central American countries.

At one point today (Monday), drudgereport.com featured some 17 simultaneous links to various stories on the crisis that’s straining the resources of southern border states such as Texas and Arizona, where many of these illegals are literally piling up.

With America’s attention focused on this humanitarian crisis, the question must be asked, “Will awareness of, and voter anger over, this spreading problem sink Eric Cantor’s reelection prospects?”

Cantor, the second in command in the GOP-controlled House, faces a primary tomorrow (6/10) in his home state of Virginia. His main challenger, Dave Brat, is surging in the polls and could offer Cantor a real run for his money.

Brat, an economist and college professor, has been hammering Cantor on the immigration issue, especially in light of the House Majority Leader’s oft-stated support for a deal on amnesty.

In a post at breitbart.com, this question of Brat’s strength and Cantor’s perceived weakness gets a very good going over:

Brat…said Cantor has taken “zero responsibility” on the issue and blasted him for falsely claiming that he was “unwavering on immigration” when Cantor has really been “bobbing and weaving” on the issue. Brat noted that Cantor was “100% all-in” on amnesty and support for the Kids Act, the Enlist Act, and the Dream Act before one of Cantor’s top allies was ousted from a GOP Chairmanship in his district. Brat said amnesty legislation will be “right back on track after the primary is over” if Cantor prevails.

Let's start with implementing Universal E-Verify. That will eliminate the jobs lure. Eliminating the jobs lure will send a message to illegal aliens that the door is now closed to them. Then we can turn out attention to other aspects of the illegal alien problem, such as visa overstays.
