At Least Two Arrested At Rally To Urge DREAM Act's Passing In NY

    By: NY1 News

At least two people were arrested at a rally in the city urging Governor Andrew Cuomo to reform the state's immigration laws; a group of counter-protesters also showed up at the governor's office, saying citizens shouldn't pay for the education of those who are here illegally.

At least two people were arrested Tuesday at a rally in the city urging Governor Andrew Cuomo to reform the state's immigration laws. The arrests happened outside Cuomo's office building Tuesday, when protesters intentionally blocked traffic.
They were calling on a version of the so-called DREAM Act to be passed in New York.
The bill would let young people brought to this country illegally as children have access to financial aid for education.
They want the governor to help get that bill passed in this legislative session.
"We're here to demand that this bill be made a priority," said protester Veronica Beyetty Flores. "We know that Governor Cuomo has the power to prioritize this bill. We know that New York State has traditionally and has a long history of being an immigrant friendly state, and we want to continue that tradition and we want to demand the prioritization of this bill."
A group of counter-protesters also showed up at the governor's office, saying citizens shouldn't pay for the education of those who are here illegally.

Demand? Who does this person think she is?
