Saturday's protest outside the Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood was just one of several protests across South Florida and part of some 700 nationwide demonstrations by groups including the Move On and Families Belong Together organizations to bring about change in immigration policy.
I’m writing in response to a Friday, July 13 letter, “Are immigrants part of your own family history?” Yes, both sets of my grandparents were legal immigrants who waited years for their turn to come here. It was a time of poverty and hunger for them. These people made America great.
Illegal immigrants are an entirely different story. Think of what this country has experienced since illegals have been streaming in. There appears to be no vetting and every day they are responsible for rapes, murders and other crimes. We put them in sanctuary cities, feed and clothe them. My grandparents had to find a job immediately but were told Irish need not apply! Quite a different story from what the illegals are given and expect from us today. Yet they protest and spit on us. What is it you don't understand about illegal? It means against the law. They are felons.
