The Spanish police shot a migrant who previously stabbed two German tourists on the Island of Mallorca, Cronica Balear reports. The attack took place on Playa de Palma, the beach of the island’s capital Palma on 3 September.
Around one o’clock in the morning the Emergency Services received notice that two men, of German nationality, were injured in Llaüt Street (at the height of Hotel Playa Golf) after being stabbed.
One of the victims is in a life threatening condition as the knife wound was close to his heart. Spain’s local and national police went to the scene of the attack to look for the criminal.
When police tried to arrest him, he threatened to kill them (apparently in Arabic) with his knife. “If I had a Kalashnikov, there would have been more death than in Paris or Barcelona” said the migrant.
The police tried unsuccessfully to persuade him to drop his weapon. A local police officer fired a shot in the air but the individual did not stop threatening the officers.
Therefore another police officer – this time one of the National Police – shot the suspect in the leg. The assailant then fell to the ground and could be apprehended.
According to a witness, the stabbing of the two tourists has been “for no reason whatsoever” and has taken place in the same street where the aggressor was shot
