Likely new Surgeon General tweeted about ‘coverage for 11 million undoc immigrants’

One of the beneficiaries of the nuclear option is Dr. Vivek Murthy, whose nomination as the new Surgeon General was confirmed this weekend. Murthy, a highly partisan political activist, co-founded “Doctors for Obama,” a group that is funded by the Center for American Progress and eventually morphed into “Doctors for America.”

Doctors for America, a pro-Obamacare organization to say the least, hosted Jonathan “Americans are stupid” Gruber to “speak at its first expert panel after hosting the January 2013 event ‘Gun Policy After Newtown,'” as reported at the Daily Caller. Also, as reported at the Gateway Pundit, Murthy “wants doctors to ask patients, including children, if there are any firearms in their home.”

Speaking with People’s World, a Communist Party USA news site, Murthy was quoted as touting Obamacare,
We need to stand together in support of the Affordable Care Act, he said.
The author added that Doctors for America “adopted a resolution in strong support of preserving the Affordable Care Act.” One of the signatories, not surprisingly, was Jonathan Gruber, according to the article.

As reported last year at Tavern Keepers, Vivek Murthy is not only anti-Second Amendment and pro-Obamacare, he seems to support taxpayer-subsidized healthcare for illegal immigrants, as well. During a conference (sponsored in part by Planned Parenthood) titled, The Future of Health Reform – Empowering Physicians to Lead Change, Murthy tweeted:
Another comment from @Drsforamerica conference: I would like policy makers to focus on coverage for 11 million undoc immigrants #dr4a

Murthy also tweeted about a campaign launched by doctors to “call out legislators against Medicaid expansion.”

How did this happen?

The Nuclear Option and arguably a lax work schedule, not Senator Ted Cruz, is why Democrats confirmed their radical nominations.

The Washington Post reported that Senator Chuck Schumer gloated,
What Cruz did aided and abetted us getting nominations.

Always the statesman, Schumer tweeted,
Was worried Dr. Vivek Murthy might not get confirmed but thanks to @TedCruz, looks like he will. #TopDocNow #SurgeonGeneral

But that is political silliness for the benefit of low-information voters, as Ted Cruz had nothing to do with the change in Senate rules, which were pushed by activists. The confirmation of Obama’s activist nominations would have taken place without Ted Cruz. It would have happened even sooner, perhaps, if Senators actually worked on Fridays and Monday mornings. As reported at TheBlaze:
Despite invoking the nuclear option, Senate Democrats didn’t go as fast as they could have on nominations, in large part because of the work schedule under Reid. The Senate almost never worked on Fridays in the last year under Reid, and often returned mid-Monday afternoon.
If you are unfamiliar with the nuclear option, it was the trashing of the over-200 year old tradition in the Senate known as the filibuster rule. In a nutshell, doing away with the rule empowered the Obama administration to squeeze through highly partisan activist appointees in a tradition reminiscent of Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s failed court packing plan. In 2005, then GOP Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist also threatened to invoke the nuclear option, claiming that Democrats were engaging in “obstructionism.” The Democrats responded by threatening to shut down the government. The mainstream media at the time lamented the constitutional ramifications of invoking the nuclear option as reported at Liberty Unyielding. Referring to the invocation of the nuclear option in 2005, then-Senator Obama said,
I am also aware that the Founding Fathers established the filibuster as a means of protecting the minority from the tyranny of the majority — and that protection, with some changes, has been in place for over 200 years.
Labeling Republicans as “obstructionists,” Harry Reid did invoke the nuclear option, despite his prior assertion that such an action would “ruin our country.” But “rewriting Senate rules to curb the use of the filibuster to block legislation” was a goal of radical progressive activists, who somehow have come to have a sickening amount of power over elected officials.
