lllegal alien charged with molesting Oregon boy may have more victims

On December 21, 2010, Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to the Beef Bend Court Apartments to investigate a report of an 11-year-old boy being molested.

Two days later, deputies arrested Doroteo Perez-Tapia, 54, and charged him with first-degree sexual abuse.

Perez-Tapia works as the maintenance man for the apartment complex, and according to the deputies, the boy was working with him in a vacant apartment when the abuse took place.

Despite his illegal status, Perez-Tapia also works as the maintenance man for the neighboring Oakmont Apartments, also on Beef Bend Road.

Since his arrest, detectives have received information that Perez-Tapia has victimized other children as well, and are asking that anyone with information about additional victims call the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at 503-846-2500.

Perez-Tapia is currently being held in the Washington County Jail without bond, due to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.

Neither of his employers (Beef Bend Court Apartments and Oakmont Apartments) have refused comment on whether or not they knew Perez-Tapia was in the country illegally, and ineligible for hire.

I have seen 14 and 16 year old undocumented immigrants cashing checks after leaving work sites on Thursday and Friday evenings. I speak English/ Spanish and have asked the children their ages is reason I know how old they are. Neither of the children speaks any English.
