Delegate Pat McDonough Introduces Counter-Legislation To Combat ILLEGAL Alien Protection Proposal

News Release --- For Immediate Release:

Delegate Pat McDonough Battles Amnesty Bill

There is a movement in the Maryland General Assembly to provide illegal aliens with amnesty. The federal Secure Communities Act, a very effective program that is designed to deport illegals who commit criminal acts, is under attack by the advocates for illegal aliens in the Maryland General Assembly.

House Bill 29 by Delegate Ana Gutierrez would make it more difficult for local law enforcement agencies to arrest and detain illegals. Under current law, if an illegal is arrested and is considered to have committed a criminal act, they must be detained in order for federal immigration officials to take actions. Sometimes illegal aliens, who have already violated our immigration laws but have not committed a criminal act, are caught in the net.

The Gutierrez legislation would mandate the immediate release of these individuals and disregard the Secure Communities Act.

The illegal alien supporters, who always maintain that immigration is a federal issue, are willing to use their local authority against a national law when it benefits their agenda. Delegate McDonough's bill, House Bill 1003, would prevent any changes and counterbalance the Gutierrez proposal.

It is amazing that a federal law on immigration is working, unlike Obama Care, but is under attack because it is successful!

The only benefit provided, if Delegate Gutierrez's legislation becomes law, would be to illegal aliens. This benefit would be another in a long list like higher education discounts, drivers' licenses, free health care, and taxpayer financed K through 12 education.

The Governor and the Maryland General Assembly have created a sanctuary state and have made Maryland into the Disneyland of America for illegal aliens. Only 10 years ago, according to the Pew Hispanic Trust, there were about 100,000 illegals in our state and now the number is in excess of 400,000 and growing. As long as the legislators act like a "law makers for law breakers caucus," benefits for illegals will continue to grow while citizens suffer the consequences.
