Tom Tancredo Will Support Bush National Guard Plan, But Cynical

Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., one of the staunchest opponents of the president's immigration plan, has told ABC News that he is in favor of using the National Guard to defend America's southern border with Mexico.

"We train National Guard all over the country, and there is no reason why we shouldn't be conducting that training on our borders," Tancredo told ABC News. "Really, we are not trying to take them from other places where they are needed."

But he remains skeptical on whether the White House will follow through.

"I hate to be too cynical about this, but my guess is it is simply being done to influence the debate in the Senate and in the House on the immigration package," Tancredo told Knight Ridder news on Friday. "And once the debate is over, we'll go back to business as usual."

ABC also reports on the reactions from border state governors:

The governors of Texas and Arizona were in favor of the plan, while the governors of California and New Mexico were against it.

"Our guardsmen are tired, they've been in Afghanistan and Iraq. I need our National Guard for forest fires," New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson said.

Monday night's speech should be a doozy from the president and a conservative base will demand to see actual action before they will ever believe this president will get tough on border enforcement.

I can't wait the hear him speak on Monday as I have this feeling he is really going to stick it to us american citizens and this speech is a preamble to passing the amnesty bill despite the opposition of american citizens. As far as using the military to secure our borders why not every other country uses them for that if necessary why should we be any different. I will believe it when I see them there.

No hiding it, it's right out front.....the globalists are "warming everyone up" to being screwed. You know, take the weekend to brainwash the masses.

You got that right 2nd, if this bill passes that is it, I am camping out on the white house lawn with my 67 yr old mom with a big sign saying that our government and our president are traitors to their country and their people

What I want to know is this:

1) How many National Guard will be at the border at one time?

2) When are they going to be deployed?

3) For how long?

4) To which border?

5) To which country?

6) What will their function be?

7) How is the Guard going to be funded?

I'll be interested to see if Arbusto addresses any of these issues Monday. If he doesn't, you'll know that it's just another smokescreen to cover up his amnesty plans.

If the illegals get what they have earned I will be 100% in favor. Can we also stipulate that our leaders and the President get what they have earned as well?

I don't give a flying fig what they're OFFERING...it's pretty packaging that means squat!

Treason House aides say this will be an attempt to sell Vincente Bush's guest worker proposal which we know is a cover for amnesty. I am willing to bet he will deploy the guard only to pull them after the bill is signed using some bs reason that they are needed elsewhere. Now that there is no hotline anymore the red line has been replaced by a green/white/orange line called the "Gringo Line" between Bush and his brother in Mexico City. I am sure he has been on the phone with his brother to allay any concerns about clamping down on Fox's disease and filth exports to the US. He has probably told Fox if he deploys the guard it will be in a limited capacity and serve as whitewash for the American Gringos so it will not impede your goal of reconquista. He probably said as with the border patrol Fox will be able to set up offices inside command post tents and will be running the show. This administration CANNOT be trusted.
