Anti-racist demonstrators confront racist border vigilantes

After packing up camp because of a brush fire across the border,
anti-racist demonstrators regrouped in the town of Campo, where they
consensed to confronting the racist border vigilantes, who had gathered
at the Campo VFW.

Chanting 'Racists Go Home!' about 100 demonstrators confronted about 10
racist vigilantes, including Chris Simcox (co-founder of Arizona
Minutemen). James Chase was also reportedly at the VFW. These
confrontations included tense nose-to-nose standoffs.

After a tense confrontation at the VFW post on Saturday, the anti-racist
demonstrators set up camp and strategized about how to disrupt the
racist border vigilante patrols at night. They used a tactic - the sonic
attack crew - which involved shining flashlights at the vigilantes and
talking to them using a sound system, thereby disrupting their ability
to hear migrants crossing. Initially, the violent vigilantes threatened
to kill the anti-racists, but the vigilantes eventually left the area.

Title: Pro-illegal Alien Protestors Commit Several Crimes against Minuteman

On the first day of a California-Mexico border stand taken by members of
the Border Patrol Auxiliary, organized by Jim Chase of Oceanside, CA, I,
Jim Wood, was accosted, assaulted, threatened, and the victim of theft
by approximately 10-15 members of a pro-illegal alien group of activists
at approximately 4:00 PM Saturday, July 16, near Campo, California.

The only witnesses were two members of the Channel 10 TV News team of
San Diego who chose not to film the event. While in the driver's seat of
my truck, a man blocked off my exit by grabbing the door and side of
truck and announced, "You don't have the balls to admit you're part of
that Minuteman Project, do you?" I replied "Yes, indeed I am." He then
asked, "What are you doing here?", and I replied "To guard the border
against illegal alien entry." He stated, "Well, you're an illegal alien,
aren't you?", and I replied "No." He retorted, "Then you must be a
native American, huh?", and I said, "Technically, yes, I was born here."
He then stated, "Well I don't know, you look pretty European to me!"

I then ducked under his arm to escape the truck, locked the doors, and
was surrounded by the group of 10-15 with signs, drums, and load
speakers blasting directly up against my ear, and the chant, "Racist
scum go home!". I returned to my camp site about one hundred feet away
where my two dogs, a German Shepherd and a Shepherd mix, were tied to a
tree. One of the protestors had a red star, cycle-and-hammer shirt, who
I recognized from Save Our State counter-protests in recent months.
Another, with a towel wrapped around his head to simulate a terrorist,
tore down my banner promoting "NoInvaders.Org", which he stole and took
with him. Three of the men hurled dirt claudes and clumps of dirt at the
dogs and I, the dogs were hit but I wasn't. Twice they charged me but
the dogs fended them off. I can recall three times being threatened,
including statements like "We're coming back to take care of you!" and
"We're coming back and we are going to get you, baby!". They then sped
off in two vehicles. The altercation lasted about five minutes.

Border Patrol Auxiliary came several minutes later, including Jim Chase
and Jim Gilchrist. We attempted twice to press charges
in the presence of the San Diego County Sheriff for assault, threats,
and theft, but Officer Radovich would only reply "We have no grounds for
making an arrest." When approached again at the nearby Veteran's
facility, he would only reply "They have
the right to protest just like you guys."

Throughout the night, members of the pro-illegal-alien group, who were
camped nearby, came over the hill to shine a spotlight
on us and play load music. Two members of our group approached the hill
and over a load speaker announced, "We are armed and if threaten or
assault us, we will defend ourselves". The protestors then left but
returned on three more occasions in the early morning hours. When our
group departed at 5:30 AM Sunday morning, the protestors shined bright
spotlights in our eyes as we drove by them. One Auxiliary member charged
that in the previous morning hours, the pro-illegals blocked the road
and challenged him to a fight.
