Lou Dobbs Tonight

Lou’s new book INDEPENDENTS DAY is now on sale in bookstores
and on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com. In Independents Day,
Lou issues a rallying cry to American citizens eager for a
change, focusing particularly on the critical issues and
challenges of the 2008 election.

Lou Dobbs Tonight is on the road all week, reporting on the
issues that matter to middle class Americans around the
country.

Tonight: Democrats on Congress' Joint Economic Committee say
the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have cost this country $1.6
trillion so far—and the costs continue to mount. Republicans
call the report a partisan ploy. We’ll have that story and all
the day’s news, live from Seattle, Washington.

Seattle-based Boeing was supposed to make aviation history with
its 787 Dreamliner, an airplane made with lightweight composite
materials. But 787 test flights and deliveries have been pushed
back by at least six months. That’s largely due to Boeing's
decision to outsource almost every aspect of the airplane's
production. We’ll have that story.

A new report based on 30 years of income data finds that the
income gap between families in this country is growing. The
report questions “whether the American Dream is a reality’
anymore. We’ll look at how life for working families has
changed compared to a generation ago.

Big corporations have made a habit of claiming that there
aren’t enough math and science students coming out of U.S.
universities—creating a dire need for more H1-b visas that
bring in cheap foreign labor. But a new study shows that U.S.
colleges are actually producing more graduates than there are
jobs for. We’ll have that story.

And we’ll take a closer look at the predatory lending practices
that have spurred the current home foreclosure crisis in this
country. Please join us.

year from now will be an Independent populist, a man or woman
who understands the genius of this country lies in the hearts
and minds of its people and not in the prerogatives and power
of its elites.
