Bossier Parish leads the state of Louisiana in the number of illegal immigrants deported each week.
In the past month, 24 illegal aliens have been arrested. That's a normal amount.
Jorge Castor, one of two dozen illegals deported in the last month, was arrested for driving without a license. He was on his way to work at the time.
Castor is married to a U.S. citizen and his son is a U.S. citizen. Castor, who was working for a homebuilder, came to this country, like many others, for a better way of life.
Bossier sheriff's Lt. Ed Baswell said in most cases illegals are arrested during traffic stops.
"There is a law that says if you operate a motor vehicle you must be a citizen of this country," Baswell said.
Immigration and customs enforcement pick up illegal aliens at least once a week from Bossier's minimum security jail. They are taken to a federal detention center in Oakdale pending deportation back to their country, usually Mexico.
Castor and his wife are taking steps to get back him in this country legally.
