Lubbock TX police storm 80 homes

Last night on our local news in Lubbock the police performed raids on more than 80 citizens homes. These raids were not because of drugs. These raids were to arrest people for minor violations like unpaid seat belt tickets.

Could you have meant this? You didn't post a URL to identify you information. This is only related news article to over 80 people being arrested in the Lubbock Avalanche Journal.

Federal, local lawmen swoop down on fugitives
    BY BETH AARON
    AVALANCHE-JOURNAL

Federal and local law enforcement agencies worked together to arrest violent fugitives and make the South Plains a little safer.

Operation FALCON II 2006, or Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally, swept through the western half of the U.S. from April 17 to Sunday. This cooperative effort took some of the country's most dangerous wanted criminals off the streets and made America's communities safer, according to the U.S. Marshal's Service.

Locally, 82 arrests were made and 109 warrants were cleared for charges ranging from sexual offenses to narcotics possession.

"As a result of this operation, the streets of Lubbock have definitely been cleaned up," said Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard Baker at a news conference Thursday.

    Operation Falcon II nationally
    Violent sex crime arrests: 462

    Guns seized: 111

Narcotics seized: more than 91 kilograms

    Cash seized: $120,265

    Documented gang members arrested: 163

    Vehicles seized: 14

The high number of arrests made during the operation crowded the Lubbock County Jail, but Sheriff David Gutierrez said the limited number of beds did not stop law enforcement from making arrests.

"I want the public and those criminals to know this isn't the last," he said.

Ronnie O'Neal, a supervisor with the U.S. Marshal's Service, warned people with arrest warrants not caught during the sweep to turn themselves in.

"Don't try to get a good night's sleep, because we're not going to give up," he said.

Clad in bulletproof vests emblazoned with "police," agents peered through apartment windows beginning as early as 5 a.m. April 17 to serve arrest warrants.

Working in four teams, each pulling 12-hour shifts, Northern District of Texas Lubbock Division agents followed leads on wanted criminals for seven days.

"The easy ones are the ones that are there," said team leader David Mead with the U.S. Marshal's Service on the first day of the sweep as he drove to find a man wanted for narcotics possession.

Those wanted for narcotics possession are considered violent offenders depending on their criminal history, Mead said. He was one of 23 members of law enforcement that signed up to participate in Operation FALCON II in Lubbock.

This year, the operation focused on catching violent sex offenders, said David Davidson, assistant chief deputy with the U.S. Marshal's Service Northern District of Texas. In 2005, most of the cases involved illegal drugs.

The Northern District of Texas covers Fort Worth to Abilene, and from Big Spring to the Panhandle. The biggest push, Davidson said, was in the Lubbock and Fort Worth areas.

In the Northern District of Texas, 320 fugitives were arrested, including 40 sex offenders. Nationally, 9,037 arrests were made, including 1,556 sex offenders.

The U.S. Marshal's Service, the Department of Public Safety, the Texas Rangers, Hale County Sheriff's Office, the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Lubbock County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Secret Service and the Lubbock City Marshal all contributed to the Northern District of Texas Lubbock Division's Operation FALCON II.

Other agencies involved in the sweep include the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Texas Pardons and Parole, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Agency, the U.S. Postal Inspectors, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the FBI.

Only 3% of the 80 raided

Homes produced violent offenders, drug dealers, or child preditors. The other 97% were good Americans with unpaid tickets because they are trying to put foodon the table. The point is our president will allow millions illegal imm. to break major laws

    angeloffreedom,

I still don't see any reference to illegal aliens in this story. I also don't understand something. Your first post said this happend last night but the article said it happened on Apr 17 to last Sunday.

A force like this isn't put to together to look for people with outstanding traffic warrents.

Now an unpaid ticket can get my home raided

While millions of illegal immigrants storm American streets in defiance to paying conseqencefor breaching the Patriot Act. Which gives our local PDs the power to defy our civil rights. The 3% of violent offenders captured do not justify the 97% of goodpp

I'm still not understanding your numbers here.

    Violent sex crime arrests: 462

    Guns seized: 111

Narcotics seized: more than 91 kilograms

    Cash seized: $120,265

    Documented gang members arrested: 163
I don't think that too many of these were "good" people.
