The Atlantic Is Majority-Owned By An Organization That Pushes For Amnesty
Posted By Alex Pfeiffer On 7:56 AM 10/18/2017
The Atlantic, one of America’s well-known magazines, is majority-owned by an organization that openly advocates for amnesty for illegal immigrants.
David Bradley announced in July that he would sell his majority stake of The Atlantic to the Emerson Collective, an organization run by Lauren Powell Jobs, who is Steve Jobs’ widow. The Atlantic spokeswoman Emily Lenzner confirmed to The Daily Caller Tuesday that Emerson Collective currently owns a majority stake in the company.
Emerson Collective doesn’t hide its preferences when it comes to immigration policy. Its website openly calls on constituents to ask their representatives to support the Dream Act, which would give nearly 2 million illegal immigrants a path to citizenship.
Emerson Collective has even produced its own propaganda videos.
“American Dreamer is a short video about a Texas teacher whose emotional story of hard work and resilience defines life in America for thousands of Dreamers. DACA allowed Priscilla to live in America — the only home she’s ever really known — and care for her younger siblings, who are all American-born citizens,” reads the description of one video the organization produced.
The Atlantic has also been in favor of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program and the Dream Act. Some articles published by the magazine include “The Economic Senselessness of President Trump’s DACA Repeal” and “Why the Republican Party Will Come to Regret Rolling Back DACA.”
Neither of the articles mention the Emerson Collective.
Atlantic spokeswoman Lenzner told TheDC, “Our newsroom operates independently as it always has.”
