Man serving 30 years, handed 25-years-to life sentence for murder

A man already serving a 30-year sentence was given an additional 25 years to life for killing a former Yonkers resident.
Trevor Frederick, an illegal immigrant from Grenada convicted after three trials of murdering Christopher Mariconi, was sentenced today after a tense hearing.
Frederick, 29, is already serving a 30-year sentence after being convicted of assault and attempted murder in connection with the November 2003 attack on Mariconi.
In court today, four members of Mariconi's family made impassioned and tearful pleas to Judge Ronald Zweibel, asking that Frederick remain in jail for the rest of his life.
And at sentencing, that was Zweibel's recommendation.
"I will be long retired by the time you are eligible for parole," Zweibel told Frederick. "I am now recommending that you never be released from prison for the rest of your natural life."
