    An illegal immigrant convicted of killing an 11-year-old girl on Halloween night in 2005 was sentenced in court Tuesday.

    A judge sentenced Israel Diaz to 59 consecutive years behind bars.

    DNA evidence linked Diaz to the rape and murder of Victoria Sandoval.

    At first, a man with mental disabilities named Robert Gonzales confessed to killing the little girl as she slept in her bed.

    Gonzales told police he was Sandoval’s boyfriend, and said he killed her in a fit of rage after learning she was only 11.
