BOZEMAN A Manhattan man has been charged with rape and sexual assault for allegedly molesting a ten-year-old girl.

Thirty-seven-year-old Abelardo Soto Rodriguez is accused of having sex with the girl and touching her inappropriately.

Court records say the girl told Gallatin County sheriff's detectives that Rodriguez began touching her inappropriately a year ago, and had exposed himself to her.

She says he also made her touch him, and have sex with him.

Rodriguez was arrested Wednesday night, but has been uncooperative.

He told the judge yesterday he's an immigrant from Mexico working at a dairy in Manhattan, and he's confused about his rights and the charges against him.

Citing the seriousness of the allegations, Justice of the Peace G-L Smith set bail at 400-thousand dollars -- twice the amount requested by prosecutors. is accused of having sex with the girl and touching her inappropriately.

As far as I'm concerned he has NO RIGHTS as an illegal alien. And no judge in his right mind should set bail for an illegal charged with child sexual abuse kowing that that he would just scamper back to his homeland to avoid court.
