MIDDLEBURY, N.Y. (WIVB) - An illegal immigrant will be deported a second time after he was arrested in a car whose driver deputies say stole an inspection sticker.

While on patrol on Route 19 near Fox Road in the Town of Middlebury on December 8, Wyoming County Sheriff's deputies pulled over 29-year-old Mary Beardslee for an equipment infraction. Authorities say they found Beardslee had a stolen inspection sticker on her car and placed her under arrest on charges of fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property, displayed forged certificate of inspection, uninspected motor vehicle and inadequate headlamps.

While interviewing the passengers in Beardslee's vehicle, deputies say 25-year-old Julio Garcia-Esteban gave them a false name. When deputies approached him to take the man into custody, they say he bolted for the woods. But Garcia-Esteban was caught a short time later and deputies determined he is in the United States illegally and had previously been deported following a separate arrest in the Town of Castile in 2010.

Beardslee was arraigned and released to answer the charges at a later date. Garcia-Esteban was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, whose agents took him to the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility in Batavia to await deportation.

A third passenger in Beardslee's vehicle was given a courtesy transport home.
