Immigration

The real issue with immigration boils down to taxes paid vs. services received. First off, we have to admit to ourselves that we are a nation of immigrants and that immigration makes us stronger as a nation. For all those who wish to come and contribute to our society in order to enhance and abide by the ideals Liberty, Freedom, and Opportunity; we want to have an achievable path to citizenship and welcome them into our society.

We offer many incentives for people to come here illegally in the form of social programs that cannot be accounted for due to the large scale of them nationally. The solution to this issue is a reduction in services on the federal level and a returning the right and responsibility to the states in accordance with the 10th amendment. Most of the services we provide have become unaffordable and will need to be at the very least scaled back and reduced in the hopes of maintaining a stable national economy. If we ever want to have control over the immigration and our borders we need to recognize and reduce the incentives that fuel this problem.

In addition a reduction in the incentives for illegal immigration, the path to legal immigration and citizenship for those wishing to come to the country should be made easier and faster. We should welcome all who would want to contribute to our prosperity. It is largely due to the fact that it is easier to come here illegally and make money that people choose that illegal path, even with facing the consequences of getting caught. Provide incentive for lawfulness, not lawlessness. We should not reward those who come in to this country illegally by offering amnesty, but instead we should encourage them to follow the path of the legal immigrants who are able to join us through the proper channels and with respect to our laws. We should always welcome new members to our society as equals.

Our country is in desperate need of an immigration reform policy that preserves our national security and economic interests while also providing a fair and legal path for people who want to make a home and a life for themselves in America. We need a balanced plan that improves the security of our nation and maintains the values and principles our country holds dear.
