MD-Letter from Senator Mikulski on Immigration Reform

    Comprehensive immigration reform

    Tuesday, April 7, 2009 12:44 PM
    From: "senator@mikulski.senate.gov" <senator@mikulski.senate.gov>

    Dear :

Thank you for contacting me about immigration and the current debate about immigration reform. I appreciate hearing from you about this issue.

I absolutely agree with you that our nation's immigration system is broken and must be repaired. I believe that comprehensive immigration reform must protect our borders, protect American jobs and provide a humanitarian solution to the problem of illegal immigration.

We need to do a better job of protecting America's borders. At the same time, we must adopt a sensible and dignified approach to dealing with the illegal immigrants who are currently in the country. It is not realistic to round up and deport the over 12 million illegal immigrants who currently are living in the United States. This would waste resources without solving the problem of illegal immigration. I believe that illegal immigrants will continue to come to the United States as long as there are better jobs here than in their home countries. We need a rational strategy to deal with illegal immigrants who have strong ties to our nation and who prove that they can be contributing members of our society.

We need to keep American farms and factories open and working. That's why I support a guest worker program that will help keep our economy strong. Many companies are fighting to stay in business and a shortage of workers in many industries or geographic areas threatens our nation's economy. Without workers, these factories and farms would be forced to close their doors or move overseas, taking away American jobs and hurting our economy. Companies must prove that they cannot find enough American workers before they can apply for guest workers - and then must pay those guest workers the same wage they would have paid any American.

These protections will make sure that guest workers are treated with dignity and not used as a cheap source of labor.

As Congress continues to work on immigration reform, I will continue to work on finding sensible, bipartisan solutions to fix the immigration system. I appreciate hearing your views on immigration reform and want you to know that they will be useful to me as the Senate continues to debate this issue.

    Sincerely,
    Barbara A. Mikulski
    United States Senator

Cannot bring anymore in until you get rid of a 1 million. I think Congress might get busy. And Congress needs their salary cut in half.

All useless "boilerplate" from the Open Borders Crowd.

Close but don't close the borders...

Secure but don't secure the borders...

Stop but don't stop illegal immigration.

One plus one equals two but it might equal three as well.

Up is down. Left is right.

I need your vote in the upcoming election.

Always the same bs answer from these worthless, corrupt and Mexican government, drug cartel, corporate, union and Chamber of Commerce owned and controlled pieces of crap. Always the same phony baloney convoluted logic from these absolute wastes of space, taxpayer dollars and oxygen masquerading as sorry ass representatives of the American people that we need to completely open the border despite the fact that millions more would be competing with unemployed Americans for limited jobs and health care, land, food, water, energy and other LIMITED resources. Absolutely nothing about enforcing current laws on the books through the 1986 IRCA and it's 5 revisions. This congress and administration don't give a damn about suffering and struggling Americans. To those prostitutes on Capital Hell it is all about cheap labor for their corporate johns and masters and illegal alien voters to maintain their worthless asses at the corrupt table of power.

I am retired military with 24 years of service and a disabled front line combat veteran forced to pay for my health care while this miserable excuse for a congress and administration just expanded health care for illegal aliens through SCHIP who also are rewarded with benefits and other services using stolen identities because they violated our borders, laws and sovereignty. Anyone think that I am beyond angry and thoroughly disgusted with a government who cares more about illegal aliens than veterans who sacrificed their lives and limbs defending, protecting and preserving our sovereignty only for those tic turds to sell it out from under us?
There is no freedom without the law. Remember our veterans whose sacrifices allow us to live in freedom.

I remember that a couple of years ago Bush and Congress were working on a "Secure Borders Act" that contained a loophole that allowed anyone to cross the border whenever they wanted to.

When it is not obvious that these people are crooks, it is very obvious that they are just mentally ill.

It is broken because instead of enforcing the laws they have been giving amnesties for the past 20 years. Doing the same thing that broke the system will not fix it!!

    Damn anti-American traitors.

Yeah its the old "Bait and Switch" trick which we fell for back in the 1986 Amnesty. We were promised then NO MORE AMNESTIES and OUR IMMIGRATION LAWS WILL BE ENFORCED.See where that got us !

Mikulski holds her allegience to the Seafood Industry, not America. She wants to provide them with cheap crab pickers. I cant understand why people keep voting her into office.
