Two Mexican citizens have been arrested in Riverside with 28 pounds of methamphetamine worth an estimated $1.27 million, the state attorney's general's office said Thursday.

Mexican citizens Martin Pinedo Cedillo and Alfonso Gutierrez Ibarra were apprehended last Friday after trying to sell the drug to an undercover agent, officials said in a statement.

The men were charged Tuesday with transporting and selling methamphetamine, authorities said. They could each face a maximum of 14 years in prison if convicted.
