Standing expressionless behind bullet-proof glass, a judge read the charges to three suspects who police believe to be players connected to the Mexican Mafia.

McAllen police say Carlos Montelongo, Eduardo Alcantar and Jose Lopez are Mexican Nationals now charged with serious crimes in the United States on aggravated robbery and evading arrest.

Police link the three to Wednesday's dangerous high speed chase through three cities via the expressway.

Police Chief Victor Rodriguez says a tipster reported the trio after seeing them allegedly break into a black Dodge Duranago in the mall's parking lot.

When police quickly arrived the chase ensued. Three officers were injured. A police report indicated the suspect's hit one of them with their getaway vehicle.

Two other officers were hurt during the pursuit-one of them seriously. Chief Rodriguez says the chase was a necessary element to capture criminals who would stop at nothing to commit their crimes.

Montelongo faced 6 additional charges including engaging in organized criminal activity.
