Mexican Government Upset Donald Trump Running; U.S. Media Silent

Hillary Clinton, the Mexican government and the American media all seem to be “nervous about something,” following Donald Trump’s recent presidential announcement.

The GOP presidential candidate referenced the need to close the southern border to keep illegal aliens from entering America across it.

“They’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people,” Trump said during his announcement speech.

Just two days after Trump’s presidential announcement and following the tragic shooting at a church in Charleston, South Carolina, 2016 Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton hinted in an interview that Trump’s speech would incite more violence and somehow linked his presidential launch to the horrific event. An adviser to Trump responded to Clinton’s statements saying she lacks credibility when she uses the tragedy as an opportunity to attack a political opponent.

“She must be nervous about something,” he added.

It appears the Mexican government is also “nervous” about Trump’s tough stance on illegal immigration.

A translation of Interior Minister Miguel Angel Osorio Chong’s statements to reporters show he called Trump’s statements “biased and absurd.”

“You can tell he is seeking to generate publicity, and of course he does not know or understand, surely, the contributions of all the migrants of practically every nation on earth, who have come to support and back the development of the United States.”

Chong added, “It is those Mexicans who are over there, through various circumstances, who help, without a doubt, the development of the United States and to strengthen it and show itself as a great world power.”

“So I think that what this character did is to generate controversy and not productivity, or maybe surely the lack of knowledge of the contributions of immigrants in the United States,” Chong concluded.

The Mexican media also paid close attention to the speech because after Trump’s presidential launch, the El Universal reported on his speech – highlighting his words used against illegal aliens coming into the United States from Mexico.

In the first sentence of the article, the publication reported that Trump said he would build a wall along the southern border and make Mexico pay for it if he were elected President of the United States.

I suppose the development of the US as a poverty and debt-ridden nation is something the Mexican government would celebrate. And of course illegal immigration that runs up our national debt through policies and benefits that go to them is a huge contributor to the developing demise of the United States. Poverty rates as high as they've been in decades in our country are due almost exclusively to illegal immigration, excess legal immigration and free trade policies with countries like Mexico.

So it's a near perfect storm to destroy the US as a bona fide "world power", many thanks to the criminals from Mexico who invade our country knowing full well they aren't needed or wanted, and yet defy our laws, grab hold of our politicians, steal jobs from Americans, deflate American wages, and flood our nation with illegal drugs.

So Trump laid it out in plain words, and I'm glad Mexico got the message, even if they didn't like it. They need to take heed and change their attitudes towards our country because we are not here for their taking and won't stand for it any longer.

Yes, Mexico found a way to export it's poverty and make money on it. The US GDP was less than 1% last quarter.

Economic growth is exhibiting a modest recovery after two years of cyclical weakness, averaging 1.4% and 2.1% in 2013 and 2014, respectively, but still below potential output growth (at 2.5%). Growth was led by manufacturing exports, largely emanating from a double digit increase in the automobile sector for the fifth consecutive year. Domestic demand is lagging, with private consumption dragged by low consumer confidence and limited wage growth. Private investment has shown more dynamism recently, from low levels in 2013.

Economic activity is expected to accelerate through 2017, with GDP growth strengthening from 2.9% in 2015 to 3.5% in 2017. Robust growth in the U.S. will support a continued strong performance of manufacturing exports that is expected to translate into a gradual recovery of domestic investment and consumption.

Anticipating a longer-lasting drop in oil prices, the government has already announced spending cuts by 0.7% of GDP in the budget for 2015 and plans further consolidation of public spending in 2016. Lower public spending will have a dampening impact on the pace of economic growth, despite the confidence that fiscal discipline instills on economic agents.

Growth has been weaker than expected and there has not been a strong connection between growth and poverty reduction.

The cause of this can be found in the job market as there have not been enough jobs nor enough jobs that pay adequate wages created in recent years. There has also been an increase in the labor force—due to demographic change, net-zero migration to the United States and increased female labor force participation—that the economy has not been able to absorb.

On the positive side, both public transfers, particularly in urban areas, and a lower dependency ratio have contributed to lower poverty.

The Mexican government has made progress in its structural reforms agenda in the areas of labor, education, competition policy, financial sector, telecommunications and energy sector legislation, aimed at raising productivity, competitiveness and potential output growth. Attention is now shifting to reform implementation. The opening of the energy sector to private sector participation is particularly promising for boosting growth, as it is expected to increase the production of oil and gas and provide Mexican manufacturers cheaper energy inputs. It will be important to assess the distributional impacts of the reforms, their associated regulations and implementation.
