Mexican national sentenced to 70 months in prison, deportation for drug convictions

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A Mexican national has been sentenced to nearly six years in prison, to be followed by deportation, after admitting he was in the country illegally.

U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom announced Monday that 30-year-old Miguel Aragon-Concha, of Durango, Mexico, also was given a concurrent sentence of 16 months for violating his supervised release in a Texas federal case.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that Aragon-Concha pleaded guilty in May to re-entering the United States illegally after having been deported.

Aragon-Concha was convicted in 1998 of selling cocaine and in 2000 for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Both convictions were in Texas. He was deported in 2007 but returned in 2009 and was found in the Sedgwick County jail in January.
