    Mexican President Rebukes Trump Over Border Troops, Yet Mexico Has Military on Border

    by BRANDON DARBY & ILDEFONSO ORTIZ5 Apr 20181,600

    Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has rebuked President Donald Trump for efforts to send the National Guard to the border, despite Mexico having their own troops on the U.S.-Mexico border. Other current and former Mexican politicians have taken to social media to voice their concern and opposition to Trump’s border security effort as well. None of the Mexican officials mention that the Mexican side of the border is full of their country’s Army soldiers and their Navy’s infantrymen better known as “Marinos.”

    The tension began shortly after U.S. President made the public announcement that he would be sending military forces to the southern border. Soon after that announcement, Mexico’s Foreign Relations Secretary Luis Videgaray took to social media to announce that Mexico’s government had requested through “official channels” for the U.S. government to clarify their announcement about sending troops to the border.

    Luis Videgaray Caso

    @LVidegaray
    México ha solicitado a EUA, por los canales oficiales, que clarifique el anuncio de @POTUS sobre el uso del ejército en la frontera. El gobierno de México definirá postura en función de dicha clarificación, y siempre en defensa de nuestra soberanía e interés nacional.

    Following the announcement, leftist Mexican presidential candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador called out the U.S. government for acting like bad neighbors.

    “Mexico’s Problems are not resolved with walls or militarizing the border,” Lopez Obrador also known as AMLO said adding that he would call for a protest made up of individuals wearing white and forming a massive human chain along the entire U.S. Mexico border.

    Former Mexican President Vicente Fox Quezada also took to social media to voice his opposition to Trump’s announcement.

    Vicente Fox Quesada

    @VicenteFoxQue
    .@realDonaldTrump to militarize the southern border is to provoke more hate and distance even further our nations. Somebody has to talk some sense into him, he's elevating his hate towards Mexico causing a greater conflict.

    For years, Mexican military forces have been the ones fighting drug cartels after decades of corruption led to most state police forces being infiltrated by organized crime. In the border state of Tamaulipas, Mexican Navy infantrymen or Marinos along with their army counterparts are involved in daily gun battles with factions of Los Zetas or factions of the Gulf Cartel. The same situation takes place in all of the border states as well as various tourist hotspots where cartel violence has pushed the Mexican government into deploying troops to places like Acapulco, Cancun, and the Baja area, Breitbart Texas reported.

    Mexican President Peña Nieto has been linked to multiple narco-cartels, groups that could possibly be affected by increased U.S. border security.

    Of course he is. They all are. The cartels control Mexico, they couldn't have survived without controlling the government. And don't look now, but they control a large portions of the governments and government agencies of the United States. Otherwise, they couldn't have survived here. Here is where they flourish so .... it doesn't take a genius to understand the connection between foreign drug cartels, the border issue and the scourge of illegal immigration. They're all one and the same.
