Mexican troops crossed the border into Arizona and held a U.S. Border Patrol agent at gunpoint on Sunday, according to a published report.

Agents assigned to the Border Patrol at Ajo, Ariz., said the Mexican soldiers crossed the border into an isolated area southwest of Tucson and pointed rifles at the agent, who has not been identified.

The Mexicans withdrew after other American agents arrived on the scene, The Washington Times reports.

It’s not known why the troops crossed the border, but American law enforcement authorities have said that current and former Mexican soldiers have been hired to protect drug and immigrant smugglers.

“Unfortunately, this sort of behavior by Mexican military personnel has been going on for years,â€

Ricardo Alday, a spokesman at the Mexican Embassy in Washington, told the Times on Tuesday: “Law enforcement operations have led, from time to time, to innocent incursions by both U.S. and Mexican law enforcement personnel and military units into the territory of both nations…

This was no "innocent" incursion!

We need to put our military at the border to deal with these cartels and smuggler scum.

I think we need to be calling the Mexican Consulate in DC and telling them Americans do not buy their rhetoric!! That's pure BS and we all know it is. Then we need to call our senators and tell them we are tired of having our border unsecured against military invasions and our border agents lives at risk in such a way.

Called the Mexican Consulate in DC and had to press 3 for English! Then I couldn't understand what they said anyway. I did send a rather nasty e-mail message (no cursing, just the facts) but I don't expect any reply.
When are we American citizens going to stop this incursion into our country that our fore-fathers and fore-mothers died for? I call and email my 'elected' Texas Senators frequently but only get the usual formed responses from them on this most important subject.
Out of 300 million people, how are we suppose to pick one of the two pathetic senators that have placed before us? I've already made my vote for our President and he couldn't compete with the news media puppets. I guess America as a whole no longer thinks for itself nor supports our culture or our Constitution.....

I fully agree with your statement. I am voting for anybody but the incumbent this year. That of course does not help with the Presidential race, but I am still praying for a miracle.

As for the topic at hand, I feel like beating my head against the wall. This is a common occurrence, how can our government shrug their collective shoulders at what is a blatant foreign attack? I am not talking about the 25% of Mexican citizenship that illegally dwells within our boarders, I am referring to the MILITARY OF A FOREIGN NATION for heavens sake. grrrrrr this is beyond frustrating for me.

Yes, we have been hearing about this for some time now, and as Cayla said, it is really frustrating.

I emailed my disgust at their lame excuse and explained that Americans simply do not buy it, knowing how corrupt Mexico is and how corrupt it's military always has been.
