New Anti-Illegal Immigration Laws Pass In Oklahoma

Two bills easily passed committee with Republicans voting in favor on Tuesday night.

The first, denying citizenship for children born to illegal immigrants in the state of Oklahoma.

The second, allows police to seize property of illegal immigrants.

Its measures that Senator Judy Eason-McIntyre, a Democrat from Oklahoma City, calls mean spirited and may encourage discrimination against illegals.

Senator Ralph Shortey says it's not mean spirited and it has nothing to do with race. Instead, it's about properly defining the 14th Amendment, as to who are legal citizens of the United States.

It's gotten attention of the ACLU, who are currently looking at over thirty pieces of anti-illegal immigration legislature.

They've called both of the new bills unconstitutional and questioned why Oklahoma is trying to be on the forefront of a national issue like illegal immigration.
