Border Patrol Seizes Over $1.5 Million Of Fentanyl

(Over 30 pounds of Fentanyl seized)….Two men were arrested.

The incident occurred at around 6:30 Friday morning. El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents conducted a vehicle stop near State Route 2 and Highway 78. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle agents found 13 plastic bundles of narcotics stuffed inside of the vehicle’s seats. The bundles contained a white powdery substance, later determined to be fentanyl. The narcotic weighed 33.5 pounds, with an estimated street value of over $1.5 million. The occupants of the vehicle, a 23-year-old US citizen and a 29-year-old lawful permanent resident, the vehicle and the fentanyl were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation. This was the second Fentanyl seizure last week in the El Centro Sector.
